THE following Notice to Mariners, which has been published by the Admiralty, London, is published for general information.

SOUTH PACIFIC OCEAN—FIJI ISLANDS, VITI LEVU.

Malevu : Amended Position of Shoal, marked by Beacon, South-westward of.

Position : About 2 cables south-eastward of chartered position and at a distance of 6·0 cables 236° from the beacon at south-western extremity of Malevu. Lat. 17° 29′ S., long. 177° 32′ E. (approx.).

Details : The shoal is to be moved on the charts to the above position. The centre of the shoal is marked by a concrete beacon with black and white diamond-shaped top-mark, which is to be inserted on chart No. 845; the depth is to be omitted on this chart and the note “Reported,” hitherto shown against the shoal, expunged.

Notice to Mariners No. 3 of 1928.

NEW ZEALAND.—COOK STRAIT.—SOUTH ISLAND.—ADMIRALTY BAY.—FRENCH PASS.—REEF BEACON.

Alteration in Light.

Former Notice : No. 6 of 1927.

Date of Alteration : On or about 18th January, 1928; without further notice.

Position : On the reef on the northern side of the Pass. Lat. 40° 55′·5 S.; long. 173° 50′·2 E. (approx.).

Alteration : The period of the flashing white light exhibited from the beacon (perch) on the reef on the northern side of the Pass will be altered from every three seconds to one and a half seconds, thus: flash, ½ second; eclipse, 1 second.
