Station; thence by a right line to the mouth of the Waihora Stream at Lake Taupo; thence by the shore of Lake Taupo in a southerly direction to the mouth of the Tongariro River, the place of commencement.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

License to take or kill Imported Game (Deer).

, of , having this day paid the sum of £5, is hereby authorized to take or kill two red-deer stags of not less than ten points within that part of the Rotorua Acclimatization District as described in the endorsement hereon from the 26th day of March, 1928, to the 30th day of April, 1928 (both days inclusive), subject to the provisions of the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, and all regulations and notifications affecting red-deer stags made thereunder and in force within the said district.

This license does not authorize the holder thereof to take or kill red-deer stags on lands actually and exclusively used by any registered acclimatization society for acclimatization purposes, or on any sanctuary or public domain, or on any land excepted from the operation of the notification declaring an open season for the district.

Open Season for Deer-shooting, South Canterbury Acclimatization District.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, I, Maui Pomare, Acting Minister of Internal Affairs of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare the period from the 1st day of April, 1928, to the 20th day of May, 1928 (both days inclusive), to be an open season in the South Canterbury Acclimatization District, described in the First Schedule hereto, for the taking or killing of the following imported game—viz., red-deer stags and hinds and fallow-deer bucks and does—subject to the following conditions.

CONDITIONS.

1. Licenses to take or kill red-deer stags and hinds and fallow-deer bucks and does may be issued by the Postmaster at Temuka, upon the recommendation of the Secretary of the South Canterbury Acclimatization Society, on payment of a license fee of £2, in the form prescribed in the Second Schedule hereto, and subject to the said Act and regulations thereunder and this notification.

2. No licensee shall allow any dog to accompany either himself or any attendant he may have with him. Ball cartridge only to be used; provided that no metal-patched or metal-cased bullet shall be used for killing such deer.

3. Nothing herein contained shall extend to authorizing any person to sell any deer or portion thereof.

4. Regulations as to the use of marks of identification of deer heads contained in section 6 of the regulations under the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 7th February, 1924, page 437, shall be strictly adhered to by each licensee, who, in addition thereto, shall return all unused “tags” to the Secretary of the South Canterbury Acclimatization Society at Temuka immediately he has finished stalking for the season for which such “tags” have been issued, together with a statement of the number of deer shot.

5. Nothing in any license to take or kill red-deer stags and hinds and fallow-deer bucks and does shall authorize the holder thereof to take or kill red-deer stags and hinds or fallow-deer bucks and does on lands actually and exclusively used by any registered acclimatization society for acclimatization purposes, or on any sanctuary or public domain, or on any land excepted from the operation of the notification declaring an open season for the district.

All that area in the Canterbury Land District bounded by a line commencing at Mount Cook, and proceeding thence along the summits of the Southern Alps and the Two Thumbs Range to the source of the Forest Creek; thence down that stream and the middle of the Rangitata River to the sea; thence along the sea-coast to the Pareora River and up the Pareora River to its source; by a right line to the summit of Mount Nimrod; thence by a right line to Trig. Station F; thence northerly along the summit of the range to Trig. K; thence by a line due west to the Hakataramea River; thence up the Hakataramea River and Dalgety Creek to Hakataramea Pass; thence by a right line passing through Trig. Station N1 to Stony Stream; thence down Stony Stream to the Waitaki River; and on the west by a line up the middle of the Waitaki and Pukaki Rivers to Pukaki Lake; thence up the middle of Pukaki Lake to the Tasman River; thence up the middle of the Tasman River to the Tasman Glacier; thence along the western boundary of the said Tasman Glacier to a point in line with a line from Mount Cook and passing through Ball Hut; thence by that line to Mount Cook and the summit of the Southern Alps, the place of commencement.
