Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

Wellington, 18th November, 1927.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Council of the County of Stewart Island, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

STEWART ISLAND COUNTY.

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the Stewart Island County was taken on Wednesday, the 5th day of October, 1927, to determine a proposal to borrow a sum of one thousand two hundred pounds (£1,200) for the purpose of rebuilding and enlarging the Athenæum Hall, Library, and Council Chambers at Half-moon Bay.

The total number of valid votes recorded in favour of the proposal was 37, and against, nil.

I therefore declare the said proposal to be carried.

Special Order made by the Murchison County Council, altering Riding Boundaries and adjusting Representation.

Wellington, 21st November, 1927.

THE following special order, made by the Murchison County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Counties Act, 1920.

Pursuant to section 100 of that Act, as amended by section 3 of the Counties Amendment Act, 1921–22, I hereby fix the 29th day of December, 1927, as the date on which such special order shall take effect.

MURCHISON COUNTY COUNCIL.

SPECIAL ORDER.

THAT in exercise of the powers conferred by section 23 of the Counties Act, 1920, the Murchison County Council resolved by way of special order as follows :—

“ That the present division of the Murchison County into six ridings be revoked, and that in lieu thereof the said county be divided into two ridings, to be called respectively Hampden North Riding and Hampden South Riding, which said ridings are respectively described as follows : Hampden North Riding to comprise the former ridings of Praeburn, Owen, and Matiri, and Hampden South Riding to comprise the former ridings of Hampden, Maruia North, and Matakitaki, and that part of the old Maruia South Riding that is not included in the present Maruia Springs Riding (Inangahua County), which ridings are more particularly described in the attached Schedules.”

The said Murchison County Council shall consist of six members who shall be elected as follows : The electors of each of the said two ridings shall elect three councillors.

This special order shall take effect on a date to be fixed by the Minister of Internal Affairs and notified in the Gazette.


SCHEDULE.

HAMPDEN NORTH RIDING.—MURCHISON COUNTY.

ALL that area in the Nelson Land District bounded generally towards the north-west, north, north-east, east, and south-east by the boundary of Murchison County to its intersection with the range forming the western watershed of D’Urville River ; thence towards the south-west generally by the summit of the aforesaid range which forms the watershed between the D’Urville and Tiraumea Rivers and the Matakitaki River, to the south-eastern corner of Section 8s, Block XVI, Tutaki Survey District ; thence along the southern boundary of Section 8s aforesaid, across a road, and by the southern and south-west boundaries of Section 7s, Block XVI, Tutaki Survey District, to its westernmost point ; thence by a ridge leading to the main watershed, again by the main watershed between the Tutaki, Blackwater, and Mangles Rivers and the Matakitaki River to the south-eastern corner of Section 17, Block II, Tutaki Survey District ; thence by the eastern boundaries of Sections 17, 22, 1, and 2, all of Block II, Tutaki Survey District, across a road to the centre of Mangles River, down the centre of the Mangles and Buller Rivers to the eastern mouth of Husband’s Creek, up the centre of Husband’s Creek, and along the north-west boundary of Section 5, Block XVI, Lyell Survey District, and along the watershed between Husband’s Creek and the Matiri River to the aforesaid county boundary at the point of commencement.

HAMPDEN SOUTH RIDING.—MURCHISON COUNTY.

All that are in the Nelson Land District bounded towards the north-east generally by the south-west boundary of Hampden North Riding, and towards the east, south, west, and north by the boundary of Murchison County.


CERTIFICATE.

I HEREBY certify that the Murchison County Council at a special meeting held on the twenty-fourth day of June, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-seven, duly passed a resolution altering the ridings of the said county as set out in the special order, a true copy of which is attached hereto, and that the said Council duly confirmed such resolution as a special order at an ordinary meeting of the said Council, held on the twenty-ninth day of July, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-seven, after proper public notice of such resolution had been given.

Results of Polls for Proposed Loans.

THE following notices, received from the Mayor of Wellington, are published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

WELLINGTON CITY COUNCIL.

SPECIAL LOAN FOR THE PURPOSES OF PAVING STREETS AND SURFACE-SEALING STREETS, £201,000.

I HEREBY give notice that the number of votes recorded upon the taking of the poll on the 22nd day of November, 1927, for and against the proposal of the Council of the City of Wellington to borrow (by way of special loan within the meaning of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926), the sum of £201,000 for the provision of paving streets and surface-sealing streets, was as follows : For, 3,597 ; against, 3,383.

I therefore declare the proposal to be carried.


SPECIAL LOAN FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONSTRUCTION AND FORMATION OF FOOTPATHS, £63,000.

I HEREBY give notice that the number of votes recorded upon the taking of the poll on the 22nd day of November, 1927, for and against the proposal of the Council of the City of Wellington to borrow (by way of special loan within the meaning of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926) the sum of £63,000 for the purpose of construction and formation of footpaths was as follows : For, 4,134 ; against, 2,867.

I therefore declare the proposal to be carried.


SPECIAL LOAN FOR THE PURPOSE OF ERECTION OF PUBLIC CONVENIENCES, £26,875.

I HEREBY give notice that the number of votes recorded upon the taking of the poll on the 22nd day of November, 1927, for and against the proposal of the Council of the City of Wellington to borrow (by way of special loan within the meaning of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926) the sum of £26,875 for the purpose of erection of public conveniences was as follows : For, 4,142 ; against, 2,778.

I therefore declare the proposal to be carried.
