Alterations to Scale of Charges in force upon the New Zealand Government Railways.

IN pursuance of all powers and authorities enabling me under the Government Railways Act, 1926, and of all other powers enabling me in this behalf, I, Joseph Gordon Coates, Minister of Railways, do hereby make the following alterations in the scale of charges in force on the New Zealand Government Railways open for traffic made on the 10th day of August, 1925, and published in the Gazette of 11th August, 1925; and I do hereby declare that such alterations shall come into force on the 28th November, 1927.

PART I.—PASSENGERS.

By omitting from Regulation 5 the following :—

  1. Holiday excursion tickets available for use on the outward journey within seven days prior to the date upon which the general issue of such tickets is available for travel may be issued to jockeys and trainers travelling in charge of racehorses en route to race meetings and to exhibitors and attendants in charge of exhibits en route to shows.

And inserting the following :—

30a. Exhibitors or Attendants travelling in charge of Live-stock.

(1) Holiday excursion tickets (Regulation 5) will be issued to exhibitors or attendants travelling in charge of live-stock exhibits en route to agricultural shows, horse parades, or approved exhibitions of live-stock, upon production of a certificate in the following form :—

I hereby apply for second-class ticket at the holiday excursion fare from to when travelling in charge of live-stock for exhibition at* to be held at on .

PARTICULARS OF STOCK LOADED.

[To be filled in by Officer in Charge at forwarding station.]

Station from Station to Number of Trucks. Description of Stock. Amount of Freight paid.

(3) Tickets issued under the provisions of this regulation will be available for return for one month from the date of commencement of the currency of the ticket in each case, and will only be available for travel on the trains by which the live-stock exhibits are conveyed. The Department reserves the right to decline any application for tickets under the rates and conditions enumerated in this regulation.

30b. Owners or Trainers travelling in charge of Racehorses.

(1) Holiday excursion tickets (Regulation 5) will be issued to owners or trainers travelling in charge of racehorses en route to race meetings upon production of a certificate in the following form :—

I hereby certify that I am proceeding from to in charge of the following racehorse (or racehorses)

to compete at the race meeting to be held at          on          , and I am entitled to a          class ticket at the holiday excursion fares.

(2) Tickets issued under the provisions of this regulation will be available for return for two months from the date of commencement of the currency of the ticket in each case. The Department reserves the right to decline any application for tickets under the rates and conditions enumerated in this regulation.

30c. Attendants travelling in Horse-boxes with Racehorses.

(1) Tickets available for a single journey will be issued at half the ordinary single fare (Regulation 2) or tickets available for the return journey will be issued at the ordinary single fare (Regulation 2) to attendants travelling in horse-boxes with racehorses, on production of a certificate in the following form :—

I hereby certify that the attendants named hereunder are travelling in the horse-box from          to          with the racehorses specified hereunder, and are entitled to single [return] ticket [tickets] at the concession fare from          to          .
