Soil of good quality on free clay subsoil. Worked-out bush area. The improvements, which are included in the capital value, comprise 150 acres felled and grassed, and about 150 chains of fencing. A considerable area will eventually be capable of cultivation.

Section 9, Block XXII: Area, 293 acres 1 rood 27 perches. Capital value, £440. Deposit on deferred payments, £40; half-yearly instalment, £13. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £8 16s.

Weighted with £445, valuation for improvements consisting of cottage, shed, byre, 80 acres felled and grassed, and fencing, to be paid in cash.

Situated three miles and a half from Otatau Railway-station and school, two miles and a half being by metalled road; the balance formed road. The soil is of fair quality on clay subsoil.

Section 41, Block I: Area, 316 acres 1 rood 36 perches. Capital value, £395. Deposit on deferred payments, £25; half-yearly instalment, £12 0s. 6d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £7 18s.

Weighted with £10, valuation for fencing, to be paid in cash.

Situated three miles from Otatau Railway-station and school; two miles and a half being metalled road; the balance formed road. All in mixed bush from which milling-timber has been cut. The soil is of medium quality.

Opening Land in Southland Land District for Sale or Selection.

CHARLES FERGUSSON, Governor-General.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1924, and the amendments thereof, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare and provide as follows, this is to say:—

  1. The rural land enumerated in the Schedule hereto is hereby set apart for disposal by way of sale or selection on Tuesday, the seventeenth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-eight, at the price specified in the said Schedule, and shall be deemed to be “heavy-bush land.”

  2. The said land may be purchased for cash or on deferred payments, or be selected on renewable lease.

  3. After the first half-year’s rent, or the deposit fixed under deferred payments, as the case may be, has been paid by the selector the further instalments of rent, or such part of the aforesaid instalments as consist of interest payable by him for a period of three years shall not be demanded; provided that if at any time during the first five years of his occupancy the selector disposes of his interest in the land, the rent or interest so conceded shall be paid by him in full, and thereupon the Land Board may remit such instalments of rent or interest payable by the incoming tenant, not exceeding in the aggregate the amount previously conceded to the selector, as the Board shall think fit.

SOUTHLAND LAND DISTRICT.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.

(Exempt from payment of Rent or Interest for Three Years.)

Wallace County.—Jacobs River Hundred.

SECTION 7, Block XXII: Area, 291 acres 3 roods 9 perches. Capital value, £325. Deposit on deferred payments, £25; half-yearly instalment, £9 15s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £6 10s.

Situated four miles from Fairfax Railway-station, dairy factory, and school, by formed road. Soil of very fair quality, and will hold English grasses well. All mixed bush from which milling-timber has been removed. Section mostly undulating.

Opening Education Reserve in Wellington Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease.

CHARLES FERGUSSON, Governor-General.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1924, and the Education Reserves Amendment Act, 1910, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the education reserve described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease for the term of thirty-three years, with right of renewal for successive periods of thirty-three years, on Tuesday, the twenty-fourth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-eight, at the rental mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said reserve shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Acts.


SCHEDULE.

WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT.

Kairanga County.—Kairanga Survey District.—Education Reserve.

SECTIONS 9, 10, and 11, Block XIV: Area, 115 acres 3 roods 32 perches. Capital value, £2,320. Half-yearly rent, £46 8s. Weighted with £94, valuation for fencing, payable in cash.

These sections are situated three miles distant from Linton Township and railway-station. Access is by metalled road to within twenty chains of the sections, the balance being unformed. The whole area is ploughable and lies well to the sun. It requires a little stumping in places. Fairly well watered. No buildings.

IN pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by section one hundred and thirty-two of the Land Act, 1924, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint Thursday, the nineteenth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-eight, as the time at which the land described in the Schedule hereto shall be sold by public auction; and I do hereby fix the price at which the said land shall be sold as that mentioned in the said Schedule hereto.
