ERRATUM.—In the heading of the Proclamation, dated the 1st day of June, 1927, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 38, page 1925, of the 2nd day of the same month, taking land for the purposes of a road in Blocks III and VII, Mata Survey District, read “Waiapu” in lieu of “Waipu.”

Altering Boundaries of Taumarunui and Kaitieke Counties and forming Kirikau Riding, Taumarunui County, and fixing Representation of that Riding.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the Taumarunui County Council, in pursuance of subsection three of section fourteen of the Counties Act, 1920 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), presented a petition in accordance with the said subsection three praying that the boundaries of the Taumarunui and Kaitieke Counties be altered by including in the said Taumarunui County the area of the Kaitieke County described in that petition:

And whereas a Commission was appointed to inquire and report thereon in accordance with subsection four of section fourteen of the said Act, and has duly reported that the boundaries of the said counties should be altered in the manner prayed for in the said petition:

And whereas it is expedient that the boundaries of the said counties should be altered in such a manner as is deemed to be in accordance with the said report, that the area to be added to the Taumarunui County should form a new riding to be known as the Kirikau Riding of that county, and that the number of Councillors for the said Kirikau Riding should be fixed:

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred on me by the said Act, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that the area described in the First Schedule hereto, being now part of the Kaitieke County, shall be added to and form part of the Taumarunui County; that the boundaries of the Taumarunui and Kaitieke Counties as so altered shall be those set forth under the respective headings in the Second Schedule hereto; that the area added as aforesaid to the Taumarunui County shall form a new riding to be known as the Kirikau Riding of the said county; and that the boundaries of that riding shall be those set forth in the Third Schedule hereto; and that one Councillor shall be elected for the said Kirikau Riding. And I do also proclaim and declare that this Proclamation shall take effect on the first day of April, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-eight.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

AREA TO BE EXCLUDED FROM KAITIEKE COUNTY AND INCLUDED IN TAUMARUNUI COUNTY.

ALL that area in the Wellington Land District bounded by a line commencing at a point in the middle of the Wanganui River in line with the north-western corner of Section 4 (Scenic Reserve), Block III, Hunua Survey District; thence in a south-easterly direction along the south-western boundaries of Sections 4 and 2, Block III, Hunua Survey District, to the southernmost corner of the last-mentioned section; thence by a right line to the easternmost corner of Section 9, Block III, Hunua Survey District; thence along the north-eastern boundaries of Sections 2 and 6, Block VII, and Sections 1 and 2, Block VIII, Hunua Survey District, to the Pokatea-Kokokanui Road; thence along that road and the southern boundary of Section 7, Block VIII, Hunua Survey District, and again along that road to the north-eastern corner of Section 8, Block VIII aforesaid; thence southerly and westerly generally along the south-eastern and southern boundaries of the said Section 8 to the Pokatea-Kokokanui Road; thence south-westerly generally along the southern side of that road to the north-western corner of Section 1, Block II, Kaitieke Survey District; thence along the western boundary of that section and the northern boundaries of Sections 6 and 1, Block I, Kaitieke Survey District, to the north-eastern corner of Section 2, Block VIII, Retaruke Survey District; thence generally in a south-westerly direction along the north-western boundary of said Section 2 produced to the middle of the Kokakoriki Road; thence in a southerly direction along the middle of that road and the Te Rapa Road to the northernmost corner of Section 1, Block XI, Retaruke Survey District; thence along the north-western boundary of said Section 1 to its westernmost corner; thence along the south-western boundary of Section 4, Block VII, Retaruke Survey District, to the Waipahihi Stream; thence down the middle of that stream to the Wanganui River; thence up the middle of the Wanganui River to the point of commencement.
