And whereas the Town Clerk of the Borough of Invercargill
has notified me that the majority of the votes given at such
poll were in favour of the appointment of Wednesday as the
statutory closing-day in the said combined district :
Now, therefore, I, George James Anderson, Minister of
Labour, in pursuance of section 20 of the Shops and Offices
Act, 1921–22, do hereby appoint Wednesday as the statutory
closing-day in the said combined district as from the 23rd
day of May, 1927.

Appointing Wednesday as the Statutory Closing-day in the
Borough of Hastings.

WHEREAS a poll to determine the statutory closing-day
in the Borough of Hastings was duly taken under the
authority of section 20 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22,
on the 27th day of April, 1927 :
And whereas the Town Clerk of the Borough of Hastings
has notified me that the majority of the votes given at such
poll were in favour of the appointment of Wednesday as the
statutory closing-day in the said borough :
Now, therefore, I, George James Anderson, Minister of
Labour, in pursuance of section 20 of the Shops and Offices
Act, 1921–22, do hereby appoint Wednesday as the statutory
closing-day in the said borough as from the 23rd day of May,
1927.

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, fixing the
Closing-hours of Confectioners’ Shops within the Borough of
Temuka.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority
of the occupiers of all the confectioners’ shops within
the Borough of Temuka, has been forwarded to me, desiring
that all such shops within the said borough be closed in the
evening of working-days as follows—on Mondays, Tuesdays,
Wednesdays, and Fridays at 10.30 p.m., and on Thursdays
and Saturdays at 11 p.m. :
And whereas I, George James Anderson, Minister of Labour,
am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent
a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops within the
said borough :
Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 32 of the Shops and
Offices Act, 1921–22, I do hereby direct that on and after the
30th day of May, 1927, all the confectioners’ shops within the
Borough of Temuka shall be closed accordingly.
The notice dated the 7th March, 1910, and published in the
New Zealand Gazette of the 10th March, 1910, fixing the closing-hours of fruiterers’, refreshment-room keepers’, confectioners’, and stationers’ shops in the Borough of Temuka and the notice dated the 7th June, 1911, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 8th June, 1911, fixing the closing-hours of shops in the Borough of Temuka are hereby cancelled in so far as they relate to the shops affected by this notice as from the date of the coming into operation of this notice.

the Borough of Temuka, has been forwarded to me, desiring
that all such shops within the said borough be closed in the
evening of working-days as follows—on Mondays, Tuesdays,
Wednesdays, and Fridays, at 6.30 p.m., on Saturdays at 10.30
p.m., and on Thursdays at 1 p.m.
And whereas I, George James Anderson, Minister of Labour,
am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent
a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops within the
said Borough :
Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 32 of the Shops and
Offices Act, 1921–22, I do hereby direct that on and after the
30th day of May, 1927, all the stationers’ shops within the
Borough of Temuka shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows—on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and
Fridays at 6.30 p.m. and on Saturdays at 10.30 p.m.

In pursuance of the regulations made under section 9 (5)
of the Education Act, 1914, it is hereby notified that—
For the election of a member to represent secondary and
technical male teachers on the above-mentioned Council
the following nomination was received, viz. :—
Frank Milner.

For the election of a member to represent secondary and
technical women teachers the following nomination was
received, viz. :—
Nellie Euphemia Coad.

As the number of persons nominated in each instance does
not exceed the number to be elected, I hereby declare Frank
Milner and Nellie Euphemia Coad to be duly elected members
of the General Council of Education.
