IT is hereby notified for public information that the Tariff Commission has been asked or proposes to take evidence concerning the articles set out in the Schedule hereto.
This list is supplementary to the lists published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 9th December, 1926, 13th January, 1927, 10th February, 1927, 17th February, 1927, and 3rd March, 1927.
It will be understood that the Commission does not bind itself to take evidence concerning or to consider only the article or articles mentioned in these lists.

NEW ZEALAND.—NORTH ISLAND.—NORTHERN COAST.—FIRTH OF THAMES.

River Thames or Waiho (Waihou) River.—Kirikiri Bridge under Construction.
Previous Notices.—Nos. 75 and 63 of 1926.
Position.—Te Kopu Wharf Light—Lat. 37° 11′ S.; long., 175° 33′ E. (approx.).
Details.—On and after Monday, 4th April, 1927, a temporary passing-place, 45 ft. in width, between the fender piles, will be provided at Kopu Bridge, Waihou River, pending construction of the permanent swing-span.
From sunrise to sunset the passing-place will be marked by a triangular shape on a standard on each side.
From sunset to sunrise the downstream entrance will be indicated by a red light on the eastern side and a green light on the western side; the up-stream entrance will be indicated by a green light on the eastern side and a red light on the western side. For lining purposes the green lights will be placed 2 ft. higher than the red lights, and the edge of the fender piles will be marked in duplicate lights.

Diaphone Fog-signal established.—Explosive Fog-signal discontinued.
Date of Establishment.—13th April, 1927, without further notice.
Former Notices.—Nos. 16 and 22 of 1927, hereby cancelled.
Position. — 128 yds. south-west from the lighthouse. Lat. 41° 22′ S.; long. 174° 52′ E. (approx.).
Abridged Description.—Fog. Sig.
Details.—The explosive fog-signal which has now been permanently discontinued has been replaced by a diaphone apparatus operated by compressed air, sounding one blast every minute, thus: Blast, 3 seconds; silent, 57 seconds.
Remarks.—The diaphone apparatus delivers a harsh note, each blast being terminated in a rapid lowering of the tone, giving the effect of a “grunt.”
