used which exceeds 10 lb. in weight.
5. Shooting may begin not earlier than one hour before
sunrise and must cease not later than one hour after sunset.
6. No live birds of any species shall be used as decoys, nor
shall more than twenty-five artificial decoys be used at any
one time (whether by one or several persons) on any par-
ticular water within an area of 100 yards square.
7. No person shall use any power-boat or launch in con-
nection with the taking or killing of imported game.
8. Any person committing a breach of any of these con-
ditions is liable, on conviction, to a fine of £20.

SCHEDULE.

All that area in the Auckland and Gisborne Land Districts
bounded by a line commencing at the point where the Marae-
totara Road touches the sea-coast in Block III, Whakatane
Survey District, and proceeding thence along the sea-coast
to the south-western corner of Whangaparaoa No. 1 Block;
thence along the southern boundary of said No. 1 Block,
the western boundary of Whangaparaoa No. 3A Block, and
Waikura No. 2 Block, to Pakira Trig. Station; along a right
line to Whanakaoa Trig. Station; along a right line to Kapua
Trig. Station; along a right line to Arowhana Trig. Station;
along a right line to Trig. Station 139A (Tuanui o te Kahakaha);
along a right line passing through Trig. Station 140 (Pungarehu)
to the Motu River, and up the Whakapaupakihi Stream to
its source at Trig. Station 149A; along a right line to Trig.
Station Pokaikiri; along the north-western boundaries of
Section 2, Block V, Motu Survey District, Sections 2, 1, and
4, Block IX, Motu Survey District, Sections 3 and 2, Block XII,
Moanui Survey District, Small Grazing-runs 90 and 89, to a
point in line with the western boundary of Tahoma 20 3
Section 2; thence to and along that boundary to a point
lying in the right line between Maungatapere and Maungapo-
hatu Trig. Stations; thence along that right line to Maunga-
pohatu Trig. Station; along the summit of the range to the
source of the Waimana (or Tauranga) River; down that
river to and along the south-western boundary of Waimana
1b Block; along the south-eastern boundaries of Waimana
Nos. 1b and 1c Blocks, Section 21, Block IV, Waimana
Survey District, along the north-eastern boundary of said
Section 21; along the north-eastern boundary of Waimana
No. 1E Block; along the western side of the Nukuhou
(Waimana-Ohiwa) Road, the western side of the Nukuhou-
Maraetotara Road (Whakatane-Opotiki Main Road), and the
western side of the Maraetotara Road to the sea-coast at the
point of commencement.

Open Season for Imported Game and Native Game, License
Fees, &c., Otago Acclimatization District.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals
Protection and Game Act, 1921-22, I, Richard Francis
Bollard, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Dominion of New
Zealand, do hereby declare the period from the 2nd day of
May to the 30th day of June, 1927 (both days inclusive), to be
an open season in the Otago Acclimatization District, as
described in the First Schedule hereto, except in the areas
referred to in condition No. 3 and in the Second Schedule
hereto, for the taking or killing of the following imported
game and native game—viz., mallard duck, Canadian goose,
Californian quail, grey duck, spoonbill duck (or widgeon),
and black swan; and the period from the 2nd day of
May to the 8th day of May, 1927 (both days inclusive),
to be an open season for the taking and killing of the
following native game—viz., paradise duck; and the period
from the 2nd day of May to the 31st day of May, 1927
(both days inclusive), to be an open season in the said dis-
trict for the taking or killing of the following native game—
viz., pukeko; except in the Maniototo County, wherein the
period for taking or killing pukeko will be from the 2nd day
of May to the 30th day of June, 1927 (both days inclusive);
and the period from the 2nd day of January to the 12th day
of February, 1928 (both days inclusive), to be an open season
for the taking or killing of the following native game—viz.,
godwits; subject to the following conditions.


CONDITIONS.

  1. LICENSES to take or kill such imported game and native
    game, including godwits, within the said district will be
    issued to any person on payment of the sum of twenty shillings
    (20s.) each, and licenses to take or kill such native game only,
    including godwits, will be issued to any person on payment
    of the sum of ten shillings (10s.) each; and the secretary of
    the Otago Acclimatization Society, or any person authorized
    by such secretary in that behalf, is hereby authorized to sign
    and issue the said licenses.
  2. The number of such imported game and native game
    that may be taken or killed by any one person in any one
    day shall not exceed twelve mallard duck, twenty-five head in
    all of grey duck, spoonbill duck (or widgeon), and black swan,
    six head of paradise duck; or a total of twenty-five for the
    seven days; twelve head of pukeko, Californian quail,
    twenty head, except in the following districts, viz.: Waikaia,
    Heriot, Hindon, Maungatua, Waihola, Waipori, Salisbury,
    Pukerangi, and Puerua, wherein the taking or killing of Cali-
    formian quail is absolutely prohibited; and Canadian goose, of
    which latter not more than two head will be allowed to be
    taken or killed during the season.
  3. Nothing in any license to take or kill imported game
    and native game, including godwits (or native game only,
    including godwits), shall authorize the holder thereof to take
    or kill imported game and native game (or native game only)
    on lands actually and exclusively used by any registered
    acclimatization society for acclimatization purposes, or on
    any sanctuary or public domain, or any land mentioned
    in the Second Schedule hereto.
  4. No person shall kill or destroy any such imported game
    or native game, or shoot at or attempt to shoot at any such
    imported game or native game, with any automatic or auto-
    loading gun, unless it is converted into a gun capable of
    carrying two cartridges only, or with any rifle or pea-rifle,
    swivel-gun, punt-gun, or pump-gun, or shall use any gun
    other than a shoulder-gun; and no gun shall be used for
    the purpose aforesaid the bore of which is larger than the
    size known as No. 12 at the muzzle, nor shall any gun be used
    which exceeds 10 lb. in weight.
  5. A license issued pursuant to this notification to take or
    kill imported and native game or native game only shall
    entitle the holder thereof to take or kill native game in the
    Southland Acclimatization District, during the period and
    subject, mutatis mutandis, to the conditions prescribed in the
    notification fixing an open season for native game in that
    district.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

All that area in the Otago and Southland Land Districts
bounded by a line commencing at Broderick's Pass and pro-
ceeding along the summit of the range passing through Mount
Huxley, Lindis Pass, to Mount St. Bathans; along a right
line due east to and along the summit of the Hawkdun Range,
through Mount Domet and along the summit of the Kakanui
Range to the source of the Waianakarua River; down that
river to the eastern boundary of Section 27, Block III, Wai-
hemo Survey District; south-westerly along that boundary
to a public road; south-easterly along that road to the
eastern boundary of Section 4, Block XIV, Moeraki Survey
District; along that boundary, along the northern and
eastern boundaries of Block XII, Moeraki Survey District,
to the northern boundary of Section 31; easterly along that
boundary to the north-eastern corner of said Section 31;
thence along a public road to the southern boundary of
Section 43, Block IX, Moeraki Survey District; along the
southern boundaries of Sections 43, 44, and 45, all of Block
IX, and along the western boundary of Section 1 of 20, Block
III, Moeraki, to the sea; thence by the sea to the mouth of
the Mataura River; thence up the Mataura River to the
north-western boundary of Section 4, Block III, Nokomai
Survey District; thence north-easterly along that boundary
and the north-western boundary of Section 3, Block III
aforesaid, to a public road; across that road, and northerly
along same to the northern boundary of Section 2, Block III,
Nokomai Survey District; thence north-easterly along the
summit of the Hector Mountains passing through Lorn Peak,
James Peak, and Ben Nevis to Ben Cruachan; thence
easterly through Mount Edward to Mount Rosa; thence by
a right line to the confluence of the Nevis and Kawarau Rivers;
thence down the Kawarau River to its junction with the
Roaring Meg Stream; thence up the Roaring Meg Stream
to its source on Mount Pisa; thence by a right line to the
summit of Mount Pisa; thence by a right line northerly to the south-eastern corner of Block I, Lower Wanaka Survey
District; thence northerly along the eastern boundary of
the said Block I to the north-eastern corner of the said Block
