REPORT on the Vital Statistics of the Urban Areas of the Dominion for the Month of January, 1926:

The total births registered for the urban areas amounted to 1,180, as against 1,074 in December—an increase of 106. The deaths in January were 448, a decrease of 59 as compared with the previous month. Of the total deaths males contributed 247, females 201. Fifty-two of the deaths were of children under five years of age, being 11·61 per cent. of the whole number. Thirty-nine of these were under one year of age.

The equivalent annual rates per 1,000 of mean population for January, 1926 and 1925, were as follows. The infantile-mortality rate per 100 births for the same period is also given.
