(vi.) Assistant in charge of Model I, with salary of £325-£370.
(vii.) Assistant Mistress in charge of Model II, with salary of Grade 2,
with an additional £30.
(viii.) Assistant Mistress in charge of Model III, with salary of Grade 2,
with an additional £30.
(ix.) Assistant Mistress in charge of Model IV, with salary of Grade 2.
(x.) In the secondary department, if the number of pupils in yearly
average attendance is not more than thirty an assistant with
a salary of Grade 3 ; and, if the number of pupils in yearly
average attendance is more than thirty, a male assistant teacher
with a salary of Grade 4 and a female assistant teacher with
a salary of Grade 2, with an additional £30.
(3.) The associated normal school shall be staffed and the salaries paid
in accordance with the regulations for public-school staffs and salaries,
provided that an assistant teacher with a salary of Grade 2 shall be sub-
stituted for each probationary assistant, and provided further that the
head teacher shall receive an addition to salary of £40 per annum, assistants
of Grades 2 and 3 an addition of £30 per annum, and assistants of Grade 1
an addition of £20 per annum.
(4.) Where circumstances render it advisable the staffing and salaries
for a training college and for a practising school as prescribed in this clause
may, with the approval of the Minister, be modified in such manner as he
shall determine.
(5.) A married assistant on the staff of a normal school shall be entitled
to additional salary of £50 per annum under the same conditions as if he
were an assistant in a public school other than a normal school.
(6.) (a.) Any teacher, other than the head teacher, on the staff of a
normal school shall receive by way of addition to the salary hereinbefore
provided such grading addition as he would have been entitled to receive
under the regulations relating to salaries of public-school teachers if he
were a teacher on the staff of a public school other than a normal school.
(b.) Any teacher, other than the head teacher, on the staff of a normal
school not entitled to an addition to his salary as provided in paragraph (a)
of this subclause shall receive by way of addition to the salary otherwise
payable under these regulations such amount, not exceeding in any case
£50 per annum, as may be approved by the Minister.
(7.) A teacher other than the head teacher on the staff of a normal
school shall be entitled to the same annual increment as public-school
teachers of the same grade. Those not receiving grade salaries will receive
annual increments of £15.
(8.) The provisions of the regulations relating to public-school teachers
respecting commencing salaries, salaries on transfer, leave of absence, and
annual increments shall apply, mutatis mutandis, to staffs of training
colleges and normal schools ; and should any dispute or difficulty arise
respecting the meaning or effect of these regulations the question shall be
submitted to the Minister, whose decision thereon shall be final.
(9.) The grades of salaries referred to in this clause are the grades of
salaries prescribed for assistant teachers of public schools.
(10.) (a.) No member of the staff of a training college shall be employed
as assistant to the Professor of Education in a University college unless
it is shown to the satisfaction of the Minister that the work for the latter
college is done outside the ordinary training-college hours and that the
duties in the training college are not interfered with ; and unless the
Minister approves of the conditions of employment in the University
college and the remuneration therefor.
(b.) All the members of the staff of the normal school shall be deemed
to be also members of the staff of the training college, and shall take such
part in the tuition, training, and supervision of the students as the
Principal may direct and the Director approve.
(c.) All the members of the staff of the associated normal school shall
be required to assist in providing the students with such training and prac-
tice in the art of teaching as the Principal may direct.
- (1.) The following grants shall be paid to the Board :—
(a.) For the incidental expenses of the practising schools, the same
grants as are prescribed under the Act for public schools with
the same average attendance.
(b.) For the incidental expenses of the training college, the upkeep of
the college library, and the provision of clerical assistance, such
grants or allowances as the Minister may approve.
(c.) Where expert assistance, not provided by the regular staff of the
training college, is found to be required for instruction of students
in manual work, elocution, singing, and other special subjects,
such additional grants, not exceeding £200 per annum, as the
Minister may approve.
