Dismissals from the Forces.

His Excellency the Governor-General has approved of the dismissal of the undermentioned soldiers of the Territorial Force from the New Zealand Defence Forces, under section 6 (b), Defence Act, 1909, they having been convicted by the Civil power:—

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, fixing the Closing-hours of Tobacconists’ Shops within the Borough of Lyttelton.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the tobacconists’ shops within the Borough of Lyttelton, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops within the said borough be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: Subject to closing at not later than 1 p.m. on the day observed as the statutory half-holiday, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 7 p.m., and on Fridays and Saturdays at 9 p.m., with the following exceptions—(1) Should the occupier of any shop affected by this requisition observe Friday or Saturday as the statutory closing-day in any week the closing-hour on Thursday in that week for such shop shall be 9 p.m.; and (2) on the working-day first preceding Christmas Day and on the working-day first preceding New Year’s Day there shall be no fixed closing-hour:

And whereas I, George James Anderson, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops within the said borough:

Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 32 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, I do hereby direct that on and after the 20th day of December, 1926, all the tobacconists’ shops within the Borough of Lyttelton shall be closed accordingly.

The notice dated the 15th November, 1922, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 16th November, 1922, fixing the closing-hours of tobacconists’ shops in the Borough of Lyttelton is hereby cancelled as from the date of the coming into operation of this notice.
