SOUTH PACIFIC OCEAN—SOLOMON ISLANDS. BOUGAINVILLE STRAIT.
Shoal reported.
Position.—Latitude 6° 38′ south, longitude 155° 58½ east.
Remarks: A shoal, with a depth over it of about 2 fathoms is reported to exist in the above position.

Notice to Mariners No. 60 of 1926.
NEW ZEALAND.—NORTH ISLAND.—NORTHERN COAST.—WHANGAREI UPPER HARBOUR.

Portland Dredged Channel.—Beacons and Buoy installed.
THE Whangarei Harbour Board notify that the south-eastern side of the dredged channel situated westward of Knight Point is marked by three lighted beacons, each exhibiting one fixed light, 8 ft., visible 1 mile, each beacon being situated 100 ft. from the edge of the dredged channel.
The northern beacon, situated at the northern entrance, exhibits a green light.
The southern beacon, situated at the southern entrance, a red light; and the beacon situated about midway between these a white light. A red buoy opposes the southern beacon.
The dredged channel trends south-westward and is used by ships visiting Portland Wharf, which latter lies about 1·2 miles south-westward of the south-eastern corner of Limestone Island. It is about 3·7 cables in length, 150 ft. in width, and has been dredged to a minimum depth of 17 ft.

Notice to Mariners No. 61 of 1926.

THE following Notice to Mariners, which has been received from the Department of Trade and Customs, Melbourne, is published for general information.

(The astronomical positions are approximate unless seconds are given. The bearings are true and in degrees from 000° (north) to 359° measured clockwise, and those relating to lights are from seaward. The visibility of lights is that in clear weather. Fog-signals are sounded only in thick or foggy weather. The elevation given is the height of focal plane above H.W. springs.)
AUSTRALIA.—WEST COAST.
Rottnest Island Light. Power to be increased.
MARINERS and others are hereby notified that the power of the white flashing light on Rottnest Island will be increased on or about 1st February, 1927.
Position.—On centre, 2¾ miles from east end. Lat. 32° 00′ S., long. 115° 30′ E., on Chart No. 1058.
Power.—The power will be increased to 327,000 candles.
Remarks.—In other respects the light will remain unaltered. No further notice will be given.

Notice to Mariners No. 62 of 1926.
NEW ZEALAND.—NORTH ISLAND.—CAPE MARIA VAN DIEMEN.

Radio Beacon to be established.
INFORMATION is hereby given that during November, 1926, a radio beacon (spark system) will be established on the island on which the lighthouse is situated off Cape Maria Van Diemen.
In weather of low visibility the radio beacon will be automatically operated on a wave length of 1,000 metres.

Vessels desiring the radio beacon to operate on other occasions for the purpose of obtaining a line of position should communicate by radio with Awanui Radio-station in terms “Request operate Cape Maria radio beacon commencing (here state time in N.Z. mean time),” upon receipt of which Awanui Radio Station will immediately instruct Cape Maria. The characteristic of the radio-beacon will then be automatically transmitted for a period of thirty minutes from commencement.
Further notice will be given concerning the precise date on which the radio-beacon will commence to function.
Position: The radio beacon is situated in Lat. 34° 28′ 50″ south, long. 172° 38′ 45″ east (by Admiralty Chart No. 2525).

Incorporated Societies Act, 1908.—Declaration by the Assistant Registrar dissolving a Society.
I, WILLIAM GREER FLETCHER, Assistant Registrar of Incorporated Societies, do hereby declare that, as it has been made to appear to me that the New Zealand Society for the Protection of Women and Children and for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is no longer carrying on its operations, the aforesaid society is hereby dissolved in pursuance of section 28 of the Incorporated Societies Act, 1908.
