rized, to borrow money, whether pursuant to a poll of rate-
payers or otherwise howsoever, whether the rate of interest
or the term of years of the loan was or was not specified or
determined, and such money or any part thereof has not
been borrowed, the local authority may, with the precedent
consent of the Minister of Finance, borrow such money, or
such amount thereof as has not been borrowed, at such rate
of interest, or for such term, as may be prescribed by the
Governor-General by Order in Council :

And whereas the Waimatuku River Board has been autho-
rized to borrow the sum of four thousand pounds for the
purpose of straightening, deepening, and widening the Wai-
matuku River :

And whereas the Minister of Finance has given his pre-
cedent consent as required by the above-recited section
eleven, and it is desired that the rate of interest at which
the money may be borrowed be not exceeding six per centum
per annum :

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of
the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of
the power and authority vested in him as aforesaid, and
acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby prescribe that the
rate of interest that may be paid by the Waimatuku River
Board in respect of the said loan of four thousand pounds
shall be a rate not exceeding six per centum per annum,
and the said Waimatuku River Board is hereby authorized
to borrow the said sum of four thousand pounds accordingly.

Recreation Reserve in Canterbury Land District brought under Part II of the Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908.

At the Government House at Wellington, this 14th day of
June, 1926.

Present :

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

BY virtue of the powers and authorities vested in me by
the twenty-sixth section of the Public Reserves and
Domains Act, 1908, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet,
Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, by and
with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the
said Dominion, do hereby order and declare that the reserve
for recreation in the Canterbury Land District described in the
Schedule hereto shall be and the same is hereby brought
under the operation of and declared to be subject to the
provisions of Part II of the said Act; and such reserve shall
hereafter be known as the Mayfield Domain, and be managed,
administered, and dealt with as a public domain.


SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District, containing by
admeasurement 16 acres, more or less, being Reserve No. 4151
(formerly part of Rural Section 19326), situated in Block VII,
Shepherd’s Bush Survey District, and being all the land com-
prised in certificate of title, Vol. 377, folio 178, Christchurch
Registry.

Opening Settlement Lands in North Auckland Land District for Selection.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1924, and the
Land for Settlements Act, 1925, I, General Sir Charles
Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion
of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the settlement
lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for
selection on renewable lease on Monday, the second day of
August, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-six, at the
rentals mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare
that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the
provisions of the said Acts.

SCHEDULE.

NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—SETTLEMENT LAND.

FIRST-CLASS LAND.

Mangonui County.—Upokonui Settlement.

SECTION 4s : Area, 296 acres 1 rood 3 perches. Capital value,
£2,400 ; £800.* Half-yearly rent, £60 ; £36 18s.†

  • Valuation for buildings.

† Half-yearly instalment of principal and interest on
buildings, consisting of good eight-roomed house (rimu and
iron, bathroom, lean-to, scullery, and veranda on three sides,
good range, and double brick chimney), cow-byre (52 ft. by
14 ft., wood and iron, concrete floor), separator-room, old barn,
pigsty, and fowlhouse, also sheep-yards; valued at £800,
payable in cash or in sixteen years by thirty-two half-yearly
payments of £36 18s. Total half-yearly payments on lease,
£96 18s.

Situated about eleven miles from Awanui Wharf, one and a
half miles from Rangitahi School, and six miles from Kaitaia
Dairy Factory. Soil is good clay on limestone, well watered
by permanent streams and springs. There are about 440
chains of fencing, dividing property into eleven paddocks.

FIRST-CLASS LAND.

Bay of Islands County.—Remuera Settlement.

Sections 13s and 19s : Area, 144 acres 0 roods 39 perches.
Capital value, £1,280 ; £300.* Half-yearly rent, £32 ;
£19 8s. 6d.†

  • Valuation for buildings.

† Half-yearly instalment of principal and interest on
buildings, consisting of house of two rooms and lean-to (rimu,
with iron roof, with “Champion” stove), wash-house (kauri
and iron), six-bail cow-byre (rimu and iron, with concrete
floor), and separator-room; valued at £300, payable in cash
or in ten years by twenty half-yearly instalments of £19 8s. 6d.
Total half-yearly payment on lease, £51 8s. 6d.

Situated about six miles from Kaikohe Railway-station,
five miles from Kaikohe School, and nine miles from Ohae-
wai Dairy Factory. About 80 acres are bush land felled and
grassed, 4 acres native shelter bush, balance partly drained,
in rushes, carrying a fair quantity of dairying feed. There
are about 120 chains of boundary and subdivision fencing in
good repair.

Sections 24s and 31s : Area, 357 acres. Capital value,
£2,700 ; £300.* Half-yearly rent, £67 10s. ; £19 8s. 6d.†

  • Valuation for buildings.

† Half-yearly instalment of principal and interest on build-
ings, consisting of three-roomed dwelling with porch and
veranda (rimu with iron roof, lined but not finished or
papered), four-bail cow-byre (wood and iron), one 600-gallon
tank, and yard, also pigsty; valued at £300, payable in cash
or in ten years by twenty half-yearly instalments of £19 8s. 6d.
Total half-yearly payment on lease, £86 18s. 6d.

Situated about four miles and a half from Kaikohe Railway-
station and school and three miles from Ohaeawai (Bay of
Islands) Dairy Factory. Soil light volcanic on hard subsoil;
easily worked, but requires good deal of manure. For the
most part well watered by permanent streams and springs.
There are 40 chains of road-fencing (very fair order),
230 chains boundary-fencing (good condition), and 80 chains
subdivision-fencing in poor order.

Rodney County.—Streamlands Settlement.

Section 4s : Area, 101 acres. Capital value, £1,250 ; £300.*
Half-yearly rent, £31 5s. ; £19 8s. 6d.†

  • Valuation for buildings.

† Half-yearly instalment of principal and interest on build-
ings, in poor order, consisting of four-roomed kauri dwelling
(brick chimney), cow-shed, and three other sheds; valued at
£300, payable in cash or in ten years by twenty half-yearly
instalments of £19 8s. 6d. Total half-yearly payment on lease,
£50 13s. 6d.

Situated about four miles and a half from Warkworth Town
and Railway-station and two miles and a half from Wood-
cocks Railway-station. School adjoins property. About
35 acres worn-out pasture, 30 acres rough feed, balance unim-
proved. All swamp land, well watered by running stream
and springs. Blackberry has hold all over farm. Property
ring-fenced, except on main drain and creek boundaries. Also
100 chains of subdivisional fencing dividing property into eight
paddocks. All fencing in poor order.

Part Section 8s : Area, 357 acres. Capital value, £1,560 ;
£600.* Half-yearly rent, £39 ; £24 1s. 6d.†

  • Valuation for buildings.

† Half-yearly instalment of principal and interest on build-
ings consisting of kauri dwelling of eight rooms, two double
brick chimneys, wash-house, with copper, &c., attached; six
sheds in varying conditions; valued at £600, payable in
