THE following Notice to Mariners, which has been received from the Hydrographic Office, London, is published for general information.

ADMIRALTY PUBLICATIONS.
Alteration in Abridged Descriptions of Fog-Signals on Charts.
Notice is given that in future, on new charts and new editions of charts, the details of fog-signals will be omitted. The abridged descriptions on the charts will be as follows:—
Fog Sig. .. For all above water fog-signals except wireless.
W/T Fog Sig. .. For wireless fog-signals.
Sub. Fog Sig. .. For submarine fog-signals.
Full details of these fog-signals will be found in the List of Lights and List of Wireless Signals, respectively; new information will continue to be promulgated in full in Notices to Mariners for correction of these publications. The notices henceforth will quote the new form of abridged description, which is to be used for the correction of the charts affected.
The signals above mentioned are those which are sounded only during thick or foggy weather.
In the case of buoys fitted with a bell, whistle, &c., which are not given in the List of Lights, details will continue to be shown on the charts as necessary.
