Dominion, doth hereby order and declare that opossums
may be taken or killed within the Wellington Acclimatization
District described in the Schedule hereto, except in any
sanctuary or public domain, from the twentieth day of July,
one thousand nine hundred and twenty-six, to the thirty-first
day of August, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-six,
both days inclusive, subject to the general regulations made
by Order in Council dated the 8th day of May, one thousand
nine hundred and twenty-six.
And I do further notify that licenses to take or kill opossums
within the said district shall be issued to any person on pay-
ment of the sum of two pounds ten shillings each; and the
Chief Postmaster at Wellington, and the Postmasters at
Featherston, Paraparaumu, Lower Hutt, Petone, Palmerston
North, Upper Hutt, Levin, Taihape, Bull’s, Marton, Master-
ton, Eketahuna, Carterton, Greytown, and Waikanae, are
hereby appointed to sign and issue such licenses to take or
kill opossums.
SCHEDULE.
WELLINGTON ACCLIMATIZATION DISTRICT.
ALL that area in the Wellington Land District bounded on
the north-west by the Wanganui and Waimarino Accli-
matization Districts, as described in New Zealand Gazette
No. 17, of the 12th day of March, 1925; on the north by
the Rotorua Acclimatization District, as described in New
Zealand Gazette No. 17, of the 12th day of March, 1925; on
the east by the Hawke’s Bay Acclimatization District,
as described in New Zealand Gazette No. 17, of the 12th day
of March, 1925; on the south, south-east, and north-east
by the Feilding Acclimatization District, as described in
New Zealand Gazette No. 17, of the 12th day of March, 1925;
and again on the north-east by the Hawke’s Bay Acclima-
tization District, as described in New Zealand Gazette No.
17, of the 12th day of March, 1925; from the mouth of
the Wangaehu River to the mouth of the Waimata River;
thence southerly, westerly, and northerly along the sea-
coast to the mouth of the Wangaehu River, the place of
commencement.

Open Season for the Taking or Killing of Opossums in the
Westland Acclimatization District.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon him by the Animals Protection and
Game Act, 1921-22, and of all other powers and authorities
enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-
General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with
the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said
Dominion, doth hereby order and declare that opossums may
be taken or killed within the Westland Acclimatization
District described in the Schedule hereto, except in any
sanctuary or public domain, from the thirty-first day of May,
one thousand nine hundred and twenty-six, to the thirty-
first day of July, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-six,
both days inclusive, subject to the regulations made by
Order in Council dated the eighth day of May, one thousand
nine hundred and twenty-six.
And I do further notify that licenses to take or kill opossums
within the said district shall be issued to any person on pay-
ment of the sum of two pounds ten shillings each; and the
Chief Postmaster at Hokitika, and the Postmasters at Kumara,
Ross, and Okarito, are hereby appointed to sign and issue
such licenses to take or kill opossums.
SCHEDULE.
WESTLAND ACCLIMATIZATION DISTRICT.
ALL that area in the Westland Land District bounded on
the north by the Grey Acclimatization District, as described
in New Zealand Gazette No. 17, of the 12th day of March,
1925, from the mouth of the Taramakau River to the
Hurunui Saddle in the Southern Alps; thence towards the
south-west by a line along the summit of the said Southern
Alps to Mount Aspiring; thence by a right line to the mouth
of the Awarua River in Big Bay; thence north-easterly
along the sea-coast to the mouth of the Taramakau River,
the point of commencement.

Open Season for Imported Game and Native Game, License
Fee, &c., Marlborough Acclimatization District.
IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals
Protection and Game Act, 1921-22, I, Richard Francis
Bollard, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Dominion of New
Zealand, do hereby declare the period from the 15th day of May
to the 31st day of July, 1926 (both days inclusive), to be an
open season in the Marlborough Acclimatization District, as
described in the First Schedule hereto, except in the areas
referred to in condition No. 3 and in the Second Schedule
hereto, for the taking or killing of the following imported
game and native game—viz., Californian quail, grey duck, and
black swan—subject to the following conditions.
CONDITIONS.
-
LICENSES to take or kill such imported game and native
game within the said district will be issued to any person
on payment of the sum of twenty shillings (20s.) each; and the
Chief Postmaster at Blenheim, and the Postmasters at Have-
lock, Canvastown, Mahakipawa, Renwicktown, Timatanga,
Kekerangu, Picton, Nydia Bay, Seddon, Spring Creek, Ward,
and Wairau Valley, are hereby authorized to sign and issue
the said licenses. -
The number of such imported game and native game
that may be taken or killed by any one person in any one day
shall not exceed twenty-five Californian quail and twelve
head in all of grey duck and black swan. -
Nothing in any license to take or kill imported game and
native game shall authorize the holder thereof to take or
kill imported game and native game on lands actually and
exclusively used by any registered acclimatization society
for acclimatization purposes, or on any sanctuary or public
domain, or any land mentioned in the Second Schedule hereto. -
No person shall kill or destroy any such imported game
or native game, or shoot at or attempt to shoot at any such
imported game or native game, with any automatic or auto-
loading gun, unless it is converted into a gun capable of
carrying two cartridges only, or with any rifle or pea-rifle,
swivel-gun, punt-gun, or pump-gun, or shall use any gun
other than a shoulder-gun; and no gun shall be used for
the purpose aforesaid the bore of which is larger than the
size known as No. 12 at the muzzle, nor shall any gun be
used which exceeds 10 lb. in weight. -
Shooting may begin not earlier than half an hour before
sunrise and must cease not later than half an hour after
sunset. -
Any person committing a breach of any of these con-
ditions is liable, on conviction, to a fine of £20.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
All that area in the Marlborough, Nelson, and Canterbury
Land Districts bounded by a line commencing at Mount
Humboldt and proceeding thence along the summits of the
Spenser and Arnaud Ranges to Trig. Station Top 2 (Manga-
tawai); thence along a right line to Wards Pass; along the
summit of the range through Bush Cone, Mount Rintoul,
and Red Hills to the source of the Pelorus River; down that
river and up the Heringa Stream to its source (Saddle Hill);
along the summit of the range over Mount Dappa, Editor
Peak, and Mount McLaren to Trig. Station Y (Boundary
Trig.); along a right line to the cape forming the southern
point of Elaine Bay; along the southern shore of that bay to
the most westerly point at its head, and along a right line
due west to Croisilles Harbour; thence northerly, easterly,
and southerly generally along the sea-coast to the mouth of
the Conway River, up that river to its source at Palmer
Saddle; thence by a right line to Barefell Pass; thence by
a right line to Mount Humboldt, the point of commencement,
SECOND SCHEDULE.
Area, in addition to those referred to in condition No. 3,
excepted from the open season wherein imported game and
native game shall not be taken or killed:—
Big Lagoon at Vernon.
