Appointment of a Deputy of the Governor-General.

To ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS SHALL COME, I, Sir CHARLES FERGUSSON,
Baronet, General on the Retired List and in the Reserve of Officers of
His Majesty's Army, Doctor of Laws, Knight Grand Cross of the Most
Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Knight Commander of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Companion of the Distinguished Service Order, Member of the Royal Victorian Order, Governor-General and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majesty's Dominion of New Zealand and its Dependencies—SEND GREETING.

WHEREAS by a Commission passed under the Royal Sign-manual and Signet
bearing date at Saint James's the twentieth day of October, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-four, His Majesty the King was pleased to appoint me to be Governor-General and Commander-in-Chief in and over the Dominion of New Zealand and its Dependencies, with all and singular the powers granted to the Governor-General and Commander-in-Chief of the Dominion in Letters Patent under the Great Seal of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, bearing date at Westminster the eleventh day of May, one thousand nine hundred and seventeen, as in the said Commission is particularly set forth:

And whereas in the said Letters Patent it is, among other things, provided that, in the event of the Governor-General having occasion to be temporarily absent for a short period from the seat of Government or from the Dominion, he may in every such case, by an instrument under the Public Seal of the Dominion, constitute and appoint the Lieutenant-Governor, or, if there be no such officer, then any other
