Apportionment of Representation on the Springs-Ellesmere Electric-power Board.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 20th day of April, 1926.

Present:

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE J. G. COATES, P.C., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by the Electric-power Boards Act, 1925, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby revoke, as from the twelfth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-six, being the date of the next general elections of the representatives on the Springs-Ellesmere Electric-power Board of the constituent districts and combined districts of the Springs-Ellesmere Electric-power District, the Orders in Council dated the twenty-sixth day of July, one thousand nine hundred and twenty, and the twenty-fourth day of October, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-three, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 70 of the twenty-ninth day of July, one thousand nine hundred and twenty, and in the New Zealand Gazette No. 75, of the twenty-fifth day of October, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-three, respectively, determining the number of representatives of each constituent district or combined district within the Springs-Ellesmere Electric-power District, and doth hereby determine with respect to the said electric-power district, being an electric-power district duly constituted under the Electric-power Boards Act, 1918, as follows:

  1. The constituent districts which are bracketed together in the first column of the Schedule hereto are hereby constituted a combined district for the purposes of the said Act.

  2. The local authority of the constituent district distinguished in the first column of the Schedule hereto by the letter (p) is hereby declared to be the principal local authority of the combined district in which that constituent district is situated.

  3. The number of representatives of each constituent or combined district of the Board of the said district shall be the number specified in the second column of the Schedule hereto opposite the name of that constituent or combined district.

  4. The twelfth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-six, is hereby fixed as the date for the first election of the representatives of the combined district of Ellesmere County, Southbridge Town District, Leeston Town District, and portion of the Selwyn County.

Trustees for the Ellesmere Public Cemetery appointed.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by section four of the Cemeteries Act, 1908, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby revoke a certain Warrant dated the eighteenth day of July, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-eight, appointing trustees for the Ellesmere Public Cemetery, and in lieu thereof do hereby appoint

Adam McPherson,
Dr. Bernard Volckman,
William John Lemon,
Arthur Tong,
William Martin Gabbie,
Thomas James Gilbert, and
James Anderson

to be trustees to have the maintenance and care of the Ellesmere Cemetery as described in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

ELLESMERE PUBLIC CEMETERY.

ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District, containing by admeasurement 25 acres, more or less, being Reserve 1434, situated in Block I, Southbridge Survey District. Bounded towards the north-west by Fereday's Road, 995 links; towards the north-east by Rural Section 7340, 2404 links; towards the south-west by Rural Section 14458, 2611 links; and towards the south-east by Rural Sections 7339 and 7966, 1020 links: be all the aforesaid linkages a little more or less. As the same is delineated on plan marked L. and S, 2/170A, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Also all that area in the Canterbury Land District, containing by admeasurement 42 acres 1 rood, more or less, being Reserve 1435, situated in Block I, Southbridge Survey District. Bounded on the north-east by Rural Section 7966, 4035 links; on the south-east by the Southbridge-Leeston Road (a public road), 613.2 links; towards the south-west by Reserve 4145, 800 links; towards the south-east by said Reserve 4145, 700 links; towards the north-east by said Reserve 4145, 400 links; towards the north-west by said Reserve 4145, 400 links; towards the north-east by said Reserve 4145, 400 links; towards the south-east by Southbridge-Leeston Road aforesaid, 768 links; towards the south-west by Reserve 351, 2922 links; towards the north-west by Rural Section 14458, 1038 links; and towards the south-west by said Rural Section 14458, 1389 links: be all the aforesaid linkages a little more or less. As the same is delineated on plan numbered L. and S. 2/170B, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Opening Settlement Lands in Wellington Land District for Selection.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1924, and the Land for Settlements Act, 1925, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the settlement lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Wednesday, the twenty-sixth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-six, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Acts.

SCHEDULE.

WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT.—SETTLEMENT LAND.—FIRST-CLASS LAND.

Wairarapa South County.—Otahoua Survey District.—Tupurupuru Settlement.

SECTION 1: Area, 372 acres 1 rood; capital value, £8,080; half-yearly rent, £202.

Section 2: Area, 338 acres 2 roods 20 perches; capital value, £6,900; half-yearly rent, £172 10s.

Section 3: Area, 451 acres 2 roods 20 perches; capital value, £8,870; half-yearly rent, £221 15s.

The settlement is situated on the Masterton-Gladstone Road, about twelve miles from Masterton by good metalled road. The land is good black-face lamb country, and a careful settler could, if he so desired, milk a reasonable herd of dairy cows as well. The settlement generally comprises easy country on limestone formation, carrying a good sole of English grasses. When cleared the greater portion of all the sections can be ploughed. The existing fences are mostly old, and will require repairing or renewing.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 17th day of April, 1926.
