The total births registered for the urban areas amounted to 1,175, as against 991 in February—an increase of 184. The deaths in March were 493, an increase of 63, as compared with the previous month. Of the total deaths males contributed 247, females 246. Forty-nine of the deaths were of children under five years of age, being 9·94 per cent. of the whole number. Thirty-eight of these were under one year of age.

The equivalent annual rates per 1,000 of mean population for March, 1926, and three months ended March, 1926, were as follows. The infantile-mortality rate per 100 births for the same period is also given.
