The total births registered for the urban areas amounted to 1,074, as against 1,086 in November—a decrease of 12. The deaths in December were 507, an increase of 33 as compared with the previous month. Of the total deaths males contributed 256, females 251. Fifty-one of the deaths were of children under five years of age, being 10·06 per cent. of the whole number. Thirty-nine of these were under one year of age.

The equivalent annual rates per 1,000 of mean population for December, 1925, and twelve months ended December, 1925, were as follows. The infantile-mortality rate per 100 births for the same period is also given.
