the Paparoa Stream; thence down the middle of that stream
to its confluence with the Wanganui River; thence up the
middle of that river to its confluence with the Ongaruhe River,
being the place of commencement.

Open Season for Native Game, License Fee, &c., Waimate Acclimatization District.
IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals
Protection and Game Act, 1921-22, I, Richard Francis
Bollard, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Dominion of
New Zealand, do hereby declare the period from the 1st day
of May to the 31st day of July, 1926 (both days inclusive),
to be an open season in the Waimate Acclimatization Dis-
trict, as described in the Schedule hereto, except in the
areas referred to in condition No. 3, for the taking or killing
of the following native game—viz., grey duck, spoonbill duck,
and black swan; and the period from the 1st day of May to
the 7th day of May, 1926 (both days inclusive) to be an open
season in that part of the said district extending from the
Waitaki Bridge to Kurow for the taking or killing of the
following native game—viz., paradise duck; and the period
from the 1st day of May to the 31st day of May, 1926 (both
days inclusive) to be an open season in the said district for
the taking or killing of the following native game—viz.,
pukeko; subject to the following conditions.
CONDITIONS.
-
LICENSES to take or kill such native game within the
said district will be issued to any person on payment of
the sum of ten shillings (10s.) each; and the secretary of the
Waimate Acclimatization Society, or any person authorized
by such secretary in that behalf, is hereby authorized to sign
and issue the said licenses. -
The number of such native game that may be taken
or killed by any one person in any one day shall not exceed
twenty-five head in all of grey duck, spoonbill duck, pukeko,
and black swan, and six paradise duck. -
Nothing in any license to take or kill native game shall
authorize the holder thereof to take or kill native game on
lands actually and exclusively used by any registered acclima-
tization society for acclimatization purposes, or on any
sanctuary or public domain. -
No person shall kill or destroy any such native game, or
shoot at or attempt to shoot at any such native game, with any
automatic or auto-loading gun, unless it is converted into a
gun capable of carrying two cartridges only, or with any rifle
or pea-rifle, swivel-gun, punt-gun, or pump-gun, or shall use
any gun other than a shoulder-gun; and no gun shall be
used for the purpose aforesaid the bore of which is larger
than the size known as No. 12 at the muzzle, nor shall any
gun be used which exceeds 10 lb. in weight. -
Shooting may begin not earlier than half an hour before
sunrise and must cease not later than half an hour after
sunset. -
Any person committing a breach of any of the con-
ditions is liable, on conviction, to a fine of £20.
SCHEDULE.
All that area in the Canterbury Land District bounded by
a line commencing at Mount Nimrod (the source of the Pareora
River) and proceeding thence down the middle of the Pareora
River to the sea; along the sea-coast; up the middle of the
Waitaki River and of Stony Stream to the intersection of
the last named with a right line through Trig. Station N1 and
Hakataramea Pass; thence along that line to Hakataramea
Pass and down the Dalgety Creek and Hakataramea River
to a point due west of Trig. Station K; thence southerly
along the summit of a range to Trig. Station F and along a
right line to Mount Nimrod, the point of commencement.

to be an open season in the Waitaki Acclimatization District,
as described in the Schedule hereto, except in the areas
referred to in condition No. 3, for the taking or killing of the
following native game—viz., grey duck and black swan;
and the period from the 1st day of May to the 7th day of
May, 1926 (both days inclusive), to be an open season in the
localities known as Roborough Downs and Omarama, being
part of the said district, for the taking or killing of the
following native game—viz., paradise duck; subject to the
following conditions.
CONDITIONS.

thence along a right line through Ball Hut to the western
edge of the Tasman Glacier; along that edge of Tasman
Glacier; down the middle of the Tasman River, the middle
of Pakaki Lake, and the middle of Pakaki River and Waitaki
River to the sea; thence along the sea-coast to the north-
western corner of Section 1 of 20, Block III, Moeraki Survey
District; thence southerly along the western boundary of the
said section, and westerly along the southern boundaries of
Sections 45, 44, and 43, Block IX, Moeraki Survey District,
to the public road forming the western boundary of the last-
mentioned section; thence north-westerly along that road to
the north-eastern corner of Section 31, Block XI, Moeraki
Survey District; thence westerly along the northern boundary
of the said Section 31 to the eastern boundary of Block XII,
Moeraki Survey District; thence northerly along that bound-
ary to the north-eastern corner of the said Block XII; thence
westerly along the northern boundary of that Block to the
eastern boundary of Section 4, Block XIV, Moeraki Survey
District; thence northerly along the said eastern boundary to
the road forming the northern boundary of the said Section 4;
thence north-westerly along that road to the eastern boundary
of Section 27, Block III, Waihemo Survey District; thence
north-easterly along that boundary to the Waianakarua River,
up that river to its source; thence to the summit of the
Kakanui Mountains; thence generally northerly along the
summits of the Kakanui and the Hawkdun Mountains to a
point due east of Mount St. Bathan’s; thence by a right line
to Mount St. Bathans; thence northerly along the summit o
the range passing through Double Peak, Lindis Pass, Pavilion
Peak, Mount Martha, Mount Gladwish, and Mount Huxley to
Brodick Pass; thence along the summit of the Southern Alps
to Mount Cook, the place of commencement.
