THE following Notice to Mariners, received from the Department of Trade and Customs, Melbourne, is published for general information.

TASMANIA.—NORTH COAST.—RIVER TAMAR APPROACH.
Low Head Light.—Intended Alteration in Colour of Lighthouse-tower.

Mariners and others are hereby notified that one red band will be painted on the existing white circular tower at Low Head on or about 5th January, 1926.
Position.—On east side of entrance to Tamar River. Lat. 41° 03' S., long. 146° 49' E., on Chart No. 3649.
Description of Building.—White circular brick tower with one red band.
Remarks.—The other details of the light will not be altered. No further notice will be given.

Notice to Mariners No. 81 of 1925.
NEW ZEALAND.—SOUTH ISLAND.—EAST COAST.—OTAGO HARBOUR.

Vessels moored near Main Channel.

THE Otago Harbour Board notify that the area of the lower harbour on the eastern side of the Main Channel and known as the Blind Channel, will in future be used as a place in which to moor vessels which are not in regular use.
The position of such vessels in the northern portion of this area is : Acheron Head 176°, distant 1,400 ft. (approx.) ; and in the southern portion the Powder Magazine 356° distant, 800 ft. (approx.).
At present there are five of such vessels moored in this area and this number may probably be increased or diminished as occasion may require.
Vessels navigating in the lower harbour should exercise care not to confuse any lights shown by such vessels with the white lights which are exhibited on the channel beacons.

Notice to Mariners No. 82 of 1925.
NEW ZEALAND.—NORTH ISLAND.—NORTHERN COAST.— MANGONUI HARBOUR.

Submarine Telegraph-cable laid.

INFORMATION is hereby given that a submarine telegraph-cable is being laid in Mangonui Harbour from the southern shore at a position 1,000 ft. (approx.) seaward of the wharf at White Point across the fairway to the reef outside the conspicuous red rock on the northern shore of the harbour.
The position of the cable on both sides of the harbour is marked by notice-boards bearing the word ‘‘CABLE.’’
Masters of vessels must exercise care to avoid fouling the the cable.

NOTICE is hereby given that the lease of the undermentioned land having been declared forfeited by resolution of the Canterbury Land Board, the said land has thereby reverted to the Crown, under the provisions of the Land Act, 1924, and the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915, and amendments.

Blenheim, 9th November, 1925.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned small grazing-run is open for selection in terms of the Land Act, 1924 ; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Blenheim, at 2.30 o’clock p.m., on Thursday, the 10th day of December, 1925.
The valuation for improvements and one-half year’s rent must be paid on the fall of the hammer.
Conditions of lease and full particulars can be obtained on application to the Commissioner of Crown Lands, Blenheim.
