The total births registered for the urban areas amounted to 1,054, as against 987 in August—an increase of 67. The deaths in September were 562, a decrease of 17 as compared with the previous month. Of the total deaths males contributed 272, females 290. Seventy-two of the deaths were of children under five years of age, being 12·81 per cent. of the whole number. Fifty-one of these were under one year of age.
The equivalent annual rates per 1,000 of mean population for September, 1925, and nine months ended September, 1925, were as follows. The infantile-mortality rate per 100 births for the same period is also given.
