REPORT on the Vital Statistics of the Urban Areas of the Dominion for the Month of August, 1925:—

The total births registered for the urban areas amounted to 987, as against 1,056 in July—a decrease of 69. The deaths in August were 579, a decrease of 24 as compared with the previous month. Of the total deaths males contributed 316, females 263. Seventy-four of the deaths were of children under five years of age, being 12·78 per cent. of the whole number. Fifty-four of these were under one year of age.

The equivalent annual rates per 1,000 of mean population for August, 1925, and eight months ended August, 1925, were as follows. The infantile-mortality rate per 100 births for the same period is also given.
