Now, therefore, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet,
Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise
of the powers conferred by the Commissions of Inquiry Act,
1908, and of all other powers and authorities enabling me in
this behalf, and acting by and with the advice and consent
of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, do hereby
appoint you, the said
Andrew Duncan Thomson
to be a Commission to inquire into and report as to the most
suitable site, having regard to all circumstances, for the
erectiion of a wharf in Tryphena Harbour, Great Barrier
Island.
And you are hereby authorized to conduct any inquiries
under these presents at such times and places as you deem
expedient, with power to adjourn from time to time and
place to place, as you think fit, and to call before you and
examine on oath or otherwise such persons as you think
capable of affording you information as to the matter afore-
said, and to call for and examine all such books, papers,
plans, writings, documents, or records as you deem likely
to afford you information on any such matter.
And, using all due diligence, you are required to report
to me under your hand and seal not later than the thirtieth
day of September, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-
five, your recommendation on the aforesaid matter.
And you are hereby strictly charged and directed that
you shall not at any time publish or otherwise disclose, save
to me in pursuance of these presents, or by my direction, the
contents or purport of any report so made or to be made by
you.
And it is hereby declared that these presents shall con-
tinue in force although the inquiry is not regularly continued
from time to time or from place to place.
And, lastly, it is hereby further declared that these presents
are issued under and subject to the provisions of the Com-
missions of Inquiry Act, 1908.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-
General of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued
under the Seal of the said Dominion, this 6th day of
August, 1925.

Warrant appointing Conciliation Commissioner under the
Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Amendment Act,
1908.

IN exercise and pursuance of the power and authority con-
ferred on me by section twenty-nine of the Industrial
Conciliation and Arbitration Amendment Act, 1908, I, General
Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-General of the Do-
minion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint
Patrick Hally
to be a Conciliation Commissioner under and for the purposes
of Part III of the said Act; appointment to date from the
14th day of August, 1925.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-
General, this 5th day of August, 1925.

Additional Regulations under the Census and Statistics Act,
1910.
CHARLES FERGUSSON, Governor-General.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by the Census and Statistics Act,
1910, as amended by the Census and Statistics Act,
1915, I, General Sir Charles Fergusson, Baronet, Governor-
General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby make
the following regulations prescribing additional matters in
regard to which the Statistician shall collect statistics, the
forms in which particulars shall be given, and the persons
who shall supply such particulars; and do hereby order that
these regulations shall come into force on the date of their
publication in the Gazette.
REGULATIONS.
- In addition to the matters specified in paragraphs (a) to
(j) of section 21 of the Census and Statistics Act, 1910, the
Statistician shall, subject to that section, collect statistics in
regard to forestation operations in New Zealand.
[THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.
-
Any person engaged in, or proposing to engage in, or
having been engaged in, forestation operations in New Zea-
land, whether on his own account with or without the in-
tention of disposing of forest areas by sale or otherwise, or as
agent for another person or other persons, shall at such time
or times as he may be required by the Statistician so to do,
furnish to the Statistician the information specified in the
form set out in the Schedule hereto, in accordance with the
instructions comprised in that form, and shall sign the form
and transmit it by post or otherwise to the Statistician or to
any person appointed by him. -
A notice purporting to be signed by the Statistician or
by any officer of the Public Service on his behalf shall be
sufficient to require such person to supply the information
aforesaid, and such notice shall be deemed to have been duly
given if served on any person being an individual personally,
or if left at any place of business of a partnership, firm,
syndicate, or company or other corporation or organization
with a person appearing to have the management of such
place of business, or if sent by registered-post letter addressed
to any individual or partnership, firm, syndicate, company,
or other corporation or organization at his or its usual place
of business or any of his or its usual places of business in
New Zealand, or, in the case of a company or other cor-
poration having a registered office or a notified office or place
of business, at such office or place of business, and service as
aforesaid upon any one member of a partnership, firm, or
syndicate shall be deemed to be good service upon all the
members thereof. -
In these regulations, where not inconsistent with the
context,-
“Person” includes any private individual, or any
partnership, firm, syndicate, company, or other
organization, or any manager, director, secretary,
accountant, or any other officer thereof:
“Forest area” includes any legal or equitable right to
any land which is or is intended to be the subject of
forestation operations, or to any forest-produce as
defined by the Forests Act, 1921–22, or to any legal
or equitable interest in or benefit arising out of any
such land or forest-produce, whether created by
deed, bond, debenture, or other contract; and
references to the sale of forest areas include any
agreement or option for the sale or creation of any
such legal or equitable right as aforesaid :
“Forestation operations” includes the raising of forest-
trees, whether indigenous or exotic, from seed or by
other means of propagation, the lifting and replanting
or transplanting, the selling or otherwise disposing of
such seedlings or trees, the preparation of land for
the purpose of establishing nurseries or plantations
of such trees, the planting, tending, or maintenance
of such nurseries or plantations, the removal of trees
or disposal of timber therefrom, and any other work
or undertaking in connection with the growing or
cultivation of forest-trees.
