to be Clerk of the Magistrates' Courts at Hamilton and Morrinsville for the purposes of the Magistrates' Courts Act, 1908, Registrar at Hamilton of the Supreme Court of New Zealand for the purposes of the Judicature Act, 1908, Sheriff for the District of Hamilton for the purposes of the Judicature Act, 1908, Local Patent Officer at Hamilton for the purposes of section 15 of the Patents, Designs, and Trade-marks Act, 1921–22, as from the 12th day of May, 1925 ; and the Returning Officer for the Electoral District of Hamilton for the purposes of the Legislature Act, 1908, as from the 18th day of May, 1925.

BOROUGH OF INVERCARGILL.
In pursuance of section 12 of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1913, notice is hereby given that a poll of the ratepayers of the borough was taken on the 29th day of April, 1925, upon a proposal to raise a special loan of £15,500 for completing the gas-reticulation of the borough, also purchasing meters and materials.
Votes for the proposal, 1709; votes against the proposal, 1,305.
I declare the proposal to be carried.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the City of Nelson, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1913.

Poll for Special Loan.
IN pursuance of the provisions of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1913, and of the Local Elections and Polls Act, 1908, I hereby give notice that at a poll taken on Wednesday, the 29th day of April, 1925, for authority to raise a special loan of £5,700 for the purpose of making improvements to recreation reserves and children's play-grounds, purchase of land in Hastings Street for recreation purposes, and the purchase of motor lawn mowers and rollers, and erection of necessary buildings in connection with the said improvements, the result was as follows :--
For the proposal, 1,275 votes; against the proposal, 516 votes ; majority in favour of the proposals, 759.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Special Order made by the Portobello Road Board declaring that Californian Thistle shall be deemed not to be a Noxious Weed.

THE following special order, made by the Portobello Road Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Noxious Weeds Act.

SPECIAL ORDER.
THAT Californian thistle is hereby declared not to be a noxious weed within the Portobello Road Board District.
The above special order was passed at a special meeting of the Portobello Road Board on 2nd April, 1925, and confirmed at a subsequent meeting of the Board on the 30th April, 1925.
Revocation of a Notice as to an Area in Auckland Land District declared to be a Fire District.
State Forest Service,
Wellington, 21st April, 1925.
PURSUANT to subsection (2) of section 27 of the Forests Act, 1921–22, I do hereby revoke the notice dated the 7th day of February, 1924, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 6th day of March, 1924, declaring the area described in the Schedule hereto to be a fire district.
SCHEDULE.
AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.--TE KAUWHATA FOREST FIRE DISTRICT.
ALL that area situate in Waikato County bounded on the West by Allotment 234, Parish of Whangamarino ; on the north by a public road; on the north-east by the south-western boundary of Allotment 396 of the said parish ; thence by a public road to the western boundary of Allotment 323 of the said parish ; on the east by the said Allotment 323; and on the south by the Lake Waikare to point of commencement. As the same is delineated on plan No. 25/1, deposited in the Head Office, State Forest Service, Wellington, and thereon bordered red.
