At the Government House at Wellington, this 19th day of January, 1925.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred by subsection one of section eighty-two of the Destitute Persons Act, 1910, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council thereof, doth hereby declare the following society to be a charitable institution within the meaning of the said Act:

Land and Income Tax (Annual) Act, 1924.—Income-tax payable.

BY Order in Council made and issued by His Excellency the Governor-General in Council on the 18th day of October, 1924, under the authority of the above Act, it was determined that the duty by way of income-tax, leviable under section 3 of the above Act, should be paid in one sum on Saturday, the 7th day of February, 1925, at the office of the Commissioner of Taxes, Government Buildings, Wellington; and, in accordance with such Order in Council, I hereby give notice that the said duty will be payable accordingly. Additional tax will accrue if the tax is not paid on or before 28th February, 1925. The liability to pay is not suspended by any objection. The tax should be paid on or before the prescribed date, otherwise the additional percentage accrues ; any overpayment will be adjusted by refund. The demands will be posted from the office of the Commissioner of Taxes on or about 31st January, 1925. Demands must be presented with all payments, and taxpayers who expect a demand and do not receive one should notify me of the fact.

NOTE.—Important. A delay of some days will take place in the issue of the demands for the following :— Individuals (not companies) whose surnames commence with the letters D, I, J, K, O, P, O, W.

In these cases a new due date—viz., 2nd March, 1925—will be fixed, as provided by section 135 of the Land and Income Tax Act, 1923. Additional tax will accrue twenty-one days thereafter.

Board of Trade (Gas) Regulations, 1924.—Appointment of Chief Gas-examiner and Gas Referees.

IN pursuance of the powers conferred upon the Minister of Industries and Commerce by clause 9 of the Board of Trade (Gas) Regulations, 1924, the following appointments have been made :—

James Scott Maclaurin, of Wellington, Chief Gas-examiner and a Gas Referee.

Archibald Dougall, of Wellington, a Gas Referee.

Robert West Holmes, of Wellington, a Gas Referee.

The above appointments to take effect as from the date of the publication of this notice in the Gazette.
