Major J. L. Saunders, $D . S . O$., from the Canterbury Regiment (4th C. Battalion), to be Major (2nd C. Battalion), with seniority as from the 12th August, 1916.

The Wellington West Coast Regiment.
Major E. White, M.C., from the Reserve of Officers, to be Major (2nd C. Battalion). Dated 23rd February, 1925.
Captain H. Johnston (1st C. Battalion) is transferred to the 1st Battalion, with seniority as from the 1st July, 1921.

Major S. D. Rhind, M.C. (late Retired List) to be Captain, and is attached for duty to the 1st Battalion, Wellington Regiment. Dated 9th February, 1925.
Lieutenant W. H. B. Bull, from the Reserve of Officers, to be Lieutenant. Dated 17th February, 1925.

Captain A. Kidd, $M . B$., is transferred to the Reserve of Officers. Dated 7th March, 1925.

N.Z. CHAPLAINS DEPARTMENT.
The Reverend J. Chisholm, Chaplain 3rd Class, from the Reserve List, Class I, to be Chaplain, 3rd Class. Dated 23rd February, 1925.
The Reverend F. Quintrell, Chaplain 3rd Class, Reserve List, Class II, retires under the provisions of paragraph 126, General Regulations, with permission to wear the prescribed uniform. Dated 16th February, 1925.
The Commission granted C. A. Thomas, Chaplain 4th Class, is cancelled under section 5 $(a)$ Defence Act, 1909, he having left the Dominion. Dated 3rd March, 1925.

The following notice, received from the Mayor of the Borough of Palmerston North, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

Result of Poll on Proposal to raise Special Loan.
Pursuant to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that on Wednesday, the 11th day of February, 1925, a poll was taken of the ratepayers of the Borough of Palmerston North upon a proposal to raise a special loan of £6,500 required in connection with the purchase of land for a cemetery and the laying out of same, the result of the voting being as follows :—For the proposal, 325; against the proposal, 160. I therefore declare that the above proposal was duly carried.

Pursuant to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913. I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Feilding, taken on the 18th day of February, 1925, on the proposal of the said borough to borrow the sum of £18,500 for extending, improving, and safeguarding the borough waterworks, —The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 178 ; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 150 ; informal, 7.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.
