CONDITIONS.

1. LICENSES to take or kill red-deer stags may be issued by the Postmaster at Raetihi, on payment of a license fee of £2 2s., in the form prescribed in the Second Schedule hereto, and subject to the said Act and regulations thereunder and this notification. The number of such licenses to be issued by the said Postmaster shall not exceed four. Provided that not more than one such license shall be issued to the same person.

2. No licensee shall take or kill more than two red-deer stags; no red-deer stag shall be killed carrying antlers with less than ten points. Ball cartridge only to be used; provided that no metal-patched or metal-cased bullets shall be used for killing such deer.

3. No hind or fawn shall be taken or killed on any pretext whatever; and no licensee shall allow any dog to accompany either himself or any attendant he may have with him.

4. Nothing herein contained shall extend to authorizing any person to sell any deer or portion thereof.

5. Regulations as to the use of marks of identification of deer-heads contained in section 6 of the regulations under the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 7th February, 1924, page 427, shall be strictly adhered to by each licensee, who, in addition thereto, shall return all unused “tags” to the secretary of the Waimarino Acclimatization Society, Raetihi, immediately he has finished stalking for the season for which such “tags” have been issued, together with a statement of the number of deer shot.

6. Nothing in any license to take or kill red-deer stags shall authorize the holder thereof to take or kill red-deer stags on lands actually and exclusively used by any registered acclimatization society for acclimatization purposes, or on any sanctuary or public domain, or on any land excepted from the operation of the notification declaring an open season for the district.

7. Any person committing a breach of any of these conditions is liable, on conviction, to a fine of £20.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

All that area in the Wellington Land District bounded by a line commencing at the confluence of the Ongaruhe and Wanganui Rivers at Taumarunui, and proceeding thence up the middle of the Wanganui River to its intersection with a right line lying between trig. station on Tongariro and a point on the west shore of Lake Taupo at the mouth of the Waihi Stream; thence south-westerly along that line to said trig. station on Tongariro; thence southerly along a right line to Trig. Station D on Ngauruhoe; thence south-westerly along a right line to trig. station H on Paretetaitonga; thence south-easterly along a right line to trig station on Ruapehu; thence south-easterly along a right line to trig. station No. 28 on Manukaiapu; thence south-westerly along right lines through Trig. Station 24 on Te Rotete, C on Auahitotara, and A on Totem to the junction of the Waiouru-Tokaanu Road with the Waiouru-Moawhango Road; thence south-easterly along the middle of the last-mentioned road to a point in line with the northern boundary of Raketapauma No. 1I Block; thence to and along said northern boundary in a north-westerly direction, and along the northern boundaries of Raketapaumu Nos. 1G, 1A, and 3A Blocks, and along the production of the last named to the middle of the Turakina River; thence down the middle of that river to a point in line with the northern boundary of Section 4, Block II, Maungakaretu Survey District; thence to and along said northern boundary and the northern boundaries of Sections 3, 2, and 1, in Block II aforementioned, and along the northern boundaries of Sections 4, 3, and 2, across a road, and along the northern and north-western boundaries of Section 1, all in Block I, Maungakaretu Survey District, to the Owhakura Road; thence to and along the middle of that road in a westerly direction to the confluence of the Waipapa and Maketu Streams; thence along the northern boundaries of Sections 8 and 1, Block IV, Ngamatea Survey District, and along the north boundary of said Section 1 produced to the middle of the Whangaehu River; thence down the middle of that river and up the middle of the stream forming the north-eastern boundary of Ohotu 6A No. 1 Block to Fields Track crossing; thence to and along the middle of said Fields Track in a general south-westerly direction to the middle of the Rangitataua Stream; thence down the middle of said stream to its confluence with the Mangawhero River; thence up the middle of that river to a point in line with the south-western boundary of Ohotu No. 9 Block; thence to and along the said south-western boundary and along the southern boundary of Section 1, Block IX, Ngamatea Survey District, the south-eastern and south-western boundaries of Section 1, Block XII, Tauakira Survey District, and the south-eastern boundaries of Sections 3 and 9, Block XI, to the Paparoa Stream; thence down the middle of that stream to its confluence with the

Wanganui River; thence up the middle of that river to its confluence with the Ongaruhe River, being the place of commencement.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

License to take or kill Imported Game (Deer).

, of , having this day paid the sum of £2 2s., is hereby authorized to take or kill two red-deer stags, of not less than ten points, within the Waimarino Acclimatization District, from the 26th day of March, 1925, to the 26th day of April, 1925 (both days inclusive), subject to the provisions of the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, and all regulations and notifications affecting red-deer stags made thereunder and in force within the said district.

This license does not authorize the holder thereof to take or kill red-deer stags on lands actually and exclusively used by any registered acclimatization society for acclimatization purposes, or on any sanctuary or public domain, or on any land excepted from the operation of then otification declaring an open season for the district.

Open Season for Deer-shooting, Waitaki Acclimatization District.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, I, Richard Francis Bollard, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare the period from the 1st day of April, 1925, to the 20th day of May, 1925 (both days inclusive), to be an open season in the Waitaki Acclimatization District, described in the First Schedule hereto, for the taking or killing of the following imported game—viz., red-deer stags and hinds—subject to the following conditions.

CONDITIONS.

1. LICENSES to take or kill red-deer stags and hinds may be issued by the Chief Postmaster at Oamaru, on the recommendation of the secretary of the Waitaki Acclimatization Society at Oamaru, on payment of a license fee of £3, in the form prescribed in the Second Schedule hereto, and subject to the said Act and regulations thereunder and this notification: Provided that not more than one such license shall be issued to the same person; and also that stalkers shall shoot only on the blocks specified in their respective licenses.

2. Ball cartridge only to be used; provided that no metal-patched or metal-cased bullet shall be used for killing such deer.

3. Nothing herein contained shall extend to authorizing any person to sell any deer or portion thereof.

4. Regulations as to use of marks of identification of deer-heads contained in section 6 of the regulations under the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 7th February, 1924, page 437, shall be strictly adhered to by each licensee, who, in addition thereto, shall return all unused “tags” to the secretary of the Waitaki Acclimatization Society at Oamaru immediately he has finished stalking for the season for which such “tags” have been issued, together with a statement of the number of deer shot.

6. Nothing in this Warrant shall apply to deer within the area described in the Warrant dated 8th November, 1923, and published in Gazette No. 80 of 15th November, 1923, in which area protection is removed from deer.

7. Any person committing a breach of any of these conditions is liable, on conviction, to a fine of £20.
