Open Season for Red-deer Shooting, Otago Acclimatization District (Hunter Valley, Dingle, Hawea Flat, and Makarora Districts).
I N exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921-22 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), I, Richard Francis Bollard, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare the period from the 1st day of April, 1925, to the 20th day of May, 1925 (both days inclusive), to be an open season in the Otago Acclimatization District for the taking or killing of the following imported game—viz., red-deer stags —within that part of the said acclimatization district described in the First Schedule hereto, subject to the following conditions.
CONDITIONS.

LICENSES to take or kill red-deer stags may be issued by the Chief Postmaster at Dunedin, on the recommendation of the secretary of the Otago Acclimatization Society, on payment of a licensee fee of £5, in the form prescribed in the Second Schedule hereto, and subject to the said Act and regulations thereunder and this notification. Provided that not more than one such license shall be issued to the same person; and also that stalkers shall shoot only on the blocks specified in their respective licenses.

No licensee shall take or kill more than three stags, and no stag shall be killed carrying antlers with less than ten points. Ball cartridge only to be used ; provided that no metal-patched or metal-cased bullet shall be used for killing such deer.

No hind or fawn shall be taken or killed on any pretext whatever; and no licensee shall allow any dog to accompany either himself or any attendant he may have with him.

Nothing herein contained shall extend to authorizing any person to sell any deer or portion thereof.

Regulations as to use of marks of identification of deer-heads contained in section 6 of the regulations under the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921-22, published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 7th February, 1924, page 437, shall be strictly adhered to by each licensee, who, in addition thereto, shall return all unused “tags” to the secretary of the Otago Acclimatization Society, Dunedin, immediately he has finished stalking for the season for which such “tags” have been issued, together with a statement of the number of deer shot.

Nothing in any license to take or kill red-deer stags shall authorize the holder thereof to take or kill red-deer stags on lands actually and exclusively used by any registered acclimatization society for acclimatization purposes, or on any sanctuary or public domain, or on any land excepted from the operation of the notification declaring an open season for the district.

The licensee must give notice to the said Chief Postmaster of the date on which it is his intention to stalk deer; such notice to be posted, or delivered, or telegraphed three clear days before such date.

Any person committing a breach of any of these conditions is liable, on conviction, to a fine of £20.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
All that area known as Hunter Valley, Dingle, Hawea Flat, and Makarora Districts.
SECOND SCHEDULE.
License to take or kill Imported Game (Deer).
, of , having this day paid the sum of £5, is hereby authorized to take or kill three red-deer stags, of not less than ten points, within that part of the Otago Acclimatization District known as the Hunter Valley, Dingle, Hawea Flat, and Makarora Districts, upon Block No. , from the 1st day of April, 1925, to the 20th day of May, 1925 (both days inclusive), subject to the provisions of the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921-22, and all regulations and notifications affecting red-deer stags made thereunder and in force within the said district.
This license does not authorize the holder thereof to take or kill red-deer stags on lands actually and exclusively used by any registered acclimatization society for acclimatization purposes, or on any sanctuary or public domain, or on any land excepted from the operation of the notification declaring an open season for the district.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921-22, I, Richard Francis Bollard, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare the period from the 26th day of March, 1925, to the 26th day of April, 1925 (both days inclusive), to be an open season in the Rotorua Acclimatization District for the taking or killing of the following imported game—viz., red-deer stags and Japanese deer bucks—within that part of the said acclimatization district described in the First Schedule hereto, subject to the following conditions.

All that area within the Taupo County from a point commencing at the junction of the Napier-Taupo Road on the shore of Lake Taupo; thence by that road to the boundary of the Hawke’s Bay County near Tarawera Hotel; thence in a southerly and westerly direction to the boundary-line between the Hawke’s Bay, Taupo, Rangitikei, and Waimarino Counties to its intersection with the Tongariro or Upper Waikato River; thence by that river to the bridge on the Taupo-Tokaanu Road; thence by that road along the shore of Lake Taupo to the junction of the Napier-Taupo Road, being the point of commencement.
SECOND SCHEDULE.
License to take or kill Imported Game (Deer).
, of , having this day paid the sum of £5, is hereby authorized to take or kill two red-deer stags of not less than ten points and two Japanese deer bucks within that part of the Rotorua Acclimatization District as described in the endorsement hereon from the 26th day of March, 1925, to the 26th day of April, 1925 (both days inclusive), subject to the provisions of the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921-22, and all regulations and notifications affecting red-deer stags and hinds made thereunder and in force within the said district.
This license does not authorize the holder thereof to take or kill red-deer stags or Japanese deer bucks on lands actually and exclusively used by any registered acclimatization society for acclimatization purposes, or on any sanctuary or public domain, or on any land excepted from the operation of the notification declaring an open season for the district.
