Declaring Portions of Main Highways in the Highway Districts hereunder enumerated to be Government Roads.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this 29th day of October, 1924.

Present :

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in him by the Public Works Act, 1908, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby order and declare that the portions of the main highways described in the Schedule hereto shall, on and after the date of the gazetting of this Order in Council, become Government roads.

SCHEDULE.

HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 3.

  1. CAMBRIDGE–Rotorua : All that portion of the Cambridge–Rotorua Main Highway, commencing at the Ngongotaha Stream and proceeding thence generally in a west-north-westerly direction via Tarukenga Station, and terminating at the western boundary of the Rotorua County, passing through the Rotorua County, being a distance of nine miles, more or less. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked M.H. 30, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured blue and marked H–N.

HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 4.

  1. Gisborne–Opotiki (via the Coast) : All that portion of the Gisborne–Opotiki (via the Coast) Main Highway, commencing at the left bank end of the Pakarae River Bridge and proceeding thence generally in a north-easterly direction, and terminating at the Makatoto Stream, passing through the County of Uawa, being a distance of four miles and a half, more or less. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked M.H. 22, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured blue and marked L–D.

  2. Also all that portion of the said main highway commencing at the Rotokautuku Bridge – Tikitiki Main Highway (via right bank Waiapu River) at Section 2, Waitangi B, Block III, Mata Survey District, and proceeding thence generally in a northerly direction, crossing the Waiapu River; thence generally in a north-easterly direction via Rotokautuku Blocks I and V; thence crossing the Mangaoporo River; thence generally following the left bank of the Waiapu River; and terminating at its junction with the Rotokautuku–Tikitiki Main Highway (via right bank Waiapu River) at Tikitiki, passing through the County of Waiapu, being a distance of thirteen miles, more or less. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked M.H. 22, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured blue and marked K–M.

HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 5.

  1. Woodville – Palmerston North : All that portion of the Woodville – Palmerston North Main Highway, commencing at its junction with Cemetery Road on the west side of the Borough of Woodville and proceeding thence generally in a westerly direction and terminating at the eastern end of the Upper Manawatu Gorge Bridge, passing through the County of Woodville, being a distance of 1 mile 10 chains, more or less. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked M.H. 35, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured blue and marked F–E.
