The total births registered for the urban areas amounted to 1,139, as against 1,017 in August—an increase of 122.
The deaths in September were 533, a decrease of 16 as compared with the previous month. Of the total deaths males contributed 276, females 257. Eighty-four of the deaths were of children under five years of age, being 15.76 per cent. of the whole number. Sixty of these were under one year of age.
The equivalent annual rates per 1,000 of mean population for September and nine months ended September, 1924, were as follows. The infantile mortality rate per 100 births for the same period is also given.
