Prescribing the Term for which the Uawa County Council may borrow the Sum of £5,000, being a Further Portion of a Loan of £104,455 authorized to be raised for Roads, Bridges, Plant, Offices, &c.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this 21st day of July, 1924.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by section eleven of the Finance Act, 1921, and its amendments, it is provided that, notwithstanding anything to the contrary in any Act or in any rule of law, where a local authority or public body has been authorized before the passing of the said Act, or is thereafter authorized, to borrow money, whether pursuant to a poll of ratepayers or otherwise howsoever, whether the rate of interest or the term of years of the loan was or was not specified or determined, and such money or any part thereof has not been borrowed, the local authority may, with the precedent consent of the Minister of Finance, borrow such money, or such amount thereof as has not been borrowed, at such rate of interest, or for such term, as may be prescribed by the Governor-General by Order in Council:

And whereas the Uawa County Council has been authorized to borrow the sum of one hundred and four thousand four hundred and fifty-five pounds for roads, bridges, plant, offices, &c., for a term of thirty-six and a half years, and is now desirous of raising the sum of five thousand pounds, being a further portion of the loan of one hundred and four thousand four hundred and fifty-five pounds:

And whereas the Minister of Finance has given his precedent consent as required by the above-recited section eleven, and it is desired that the term for which the money may be borrowed be twenty years:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in him as aforesaid, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby prescribe that the term for which the Uawa County Council may borrow the said sum of five thousand pounds shall be twenty years, and the said Uawa County Council is hereby authorized to borrow the said sum of five thousand pounds accordingly.

Prescribing the Term for which the Auckland Harbour Board may borrow the Sum of £200,000, being a Further Portion of a Loan of £1,000,000 authorized to be raised for the Construction of Harbour-works.

At the Government House at Wellington, this 21st day of July, 1924.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in him as aforesaid, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby prescribe that the term for which the Auckland Harbour Board may borrow the said sum of two hundred thousand pounds shall be twenty years, and the said Auckland Harbour Board is hereby authorized to borrow the said sum of two hundred thousand pounds accordingly.

The South-western Side of Portion of McKenzie Street, in the City of Wellington, exempted from the Provisions of Section 117 of the Public Works Act, 1908.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this 21st day of July, 1924.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by the Public Works Act, 1908, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby approve of the following resolution passed by the Wellington City Council on the eleventh day of July, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-four, viz.:

“The Wellington City Council, being the local authority having control of the streets in the City of Wellington, hereby declares that the provisions of section one hundred and seventeen of the Public Works Act, 1908, shall not apply to the south-western side of all that portion of McKenzie Street beginning at its junction with Clyde Quay, and extending for a distance of 160·5 links, being land contained in certificate of title Volume 236, folio 80, being part frontage of Town Section 369, City of Wellington”;

such portion of street being described in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

THE south-western side of all that portion of street, situated in the Wellington Land District, City of Wellington, known as McKenzie Street, and fronting part Town Section 369. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 59851, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured red.

Extending Prohibition of Alienation of certain Native Land other than Alienation in favour of the Crown.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this 21st day of July, 1924.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

ON the recommendation of the Native Land Purchase Board, referred to in section three hundred and sixty-three of the Native Land Act, 1909, and in exercise of the power in this behalf conferred upon him by that section, and by section one hundred and eleven of the Native Land Amendment Act, 1913 (as amended by section eight of the Native Land Amendment and Native Land Claims Adjustment Act, 1916), His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council thereof, doth hereby extend for a further period of eighteen months the Order in Council dated the twelfth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-three, and gazetted the fifteenth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-three, prohibiting all alienation of the Native land specified in the Schedule hereto other than alienation in favour of the Crown.
