In the case of wholesale supply the charge shall not exceed £16 per kilovolt-ampere per year plus ½d. per unit. “Wholesale supply” for this purpose shall be held to be a supply in respect of which the consumer shall guarantee to pay not less than £180 per year.
A minimum charge of 5s. per month in boroughs and town districts and 7s. per month in country districts, including meter rent in both cases (if any), may be collected if required by the licensee, and shall be printed on the licensee’s conditions of supply.
- VARIATIONS IN CONDITIONS OF LICENSE.
The terms and conditions of this license may at any time or from time to time, at the request or with the consent in writing of the licensee, be altered by the Governor-General by Order in Council.
- LOCATION OF OVERHEAD LINES.
Notwithstanding anything hereinbefore contained, one side of every road or street shall be left free by the licensee for telegraph-lines. Lines shall not be erected on both sides of a road or street unless the permission of the Minister of Telegraphs or the Post and Telegraph Department is first obtained in accordance with clause 5 of the regulations. Except at crossing-places, the minimum separation between a telephone-line and poles carrying high or extra-high-tension circuits shall be equal to the height of the taller pole. The extra-high-tension line between Roxburgh and Alexandra, while used as an 11,000 volt circuit, shall follow the route indicated on the aforesaid plan marked P.W.D. 59513.
When the transmission voltage is raised to 33,000 volts, the 11,000 volt circuit at Fruitlands shall be used as a distribution circuit, and a separate extra-high-tension line shall be erected round the back of Fruitlands for approximately two miles and a half.
- CONVERSION OF LINES FROM EARTH-WORKING TO METALLIC.
Notwithstanding anything herein contained, the licensee shall bear the cost of converting the Railway or Post and Telegraph Department’s lines which are now erected from earth-working to metallic if required by the Minister of Railways or Telegraphs.
- RAILWAY OR TELEGRAPH DEPARTMENT’S LINES.
The licensee shall rectify to the satisfaction of the Minister of Railways or Telegraphs any interference or disturbance caused by the erection or operation of the licensee’s system that affects the satisfactory working of the telegraph-lines which are the property of the Railway or Telegraph Department and which were erected prior to the licensee’s lines.

License authorizing the South Canterbury Electric-power Board to use Electric Lines within the South Canterbury Electric-power District.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this 30th day of June, 1924.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by the Public Works Amendment Act, 1911, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth—subject to the conditions set forth in the Schedule hereto, and to the regulations made under section two of the Public Works Amendment Act, 1911, and dated the ninth day of October, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-two, published in the New Zealand Gazette of the twelfth day of the same month, or any regulations hereafter made in amendment thereof or in substitution therefor (and hereinafter collectively referred to as “the regulations”), and which regulations shall be deemed to be incorporated herein—hereby authorize the South Canterbury Electric-power Board, being an electric-power Board duly constituted under the provisions of the Electric-power Boards Act, 1918 (hereinafter with its successors and assigns referred to as “the licensee”), to use electric lines for power, lighting, heating, or other uses within the South Canterbury Electric-power District and outer area of such district as defined by Proclamation dated the twenty-second day of October, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-two, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 76 of the twenty-sixth day of October, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-two; such electric lines at present proposed to be used being indicated on plan marked P.W.D. 59429, and deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District.
SCHEDULE.
- SYSTEM OF SUPPLY.
The system of supply shall be as described in paragraph (e) of clause 2 of the regulations.
The transmission voltage shall be approximately 11,000 volts between the phases. The primary distribution voltage shall be approximately 6,600 volts between phases and the secondary distribution voltage shall be approximately 400 volts between phases and 230 volts between phase and neutral.
- MAINTENANCE OF WORKS.
The licensee shall maintain the works used under this license in proper working-order during the continuance of such license.
- DURATION OF LICENSE.
This license shall, unless sooner determined in accordance with the provisions hereinafter expressed, continue in force for a period of forty-two years from the date hereof. Upon the expiry of the said term, or upon the sooner determination of this license by revocation or otherwise, all rights hereby granted to the licensee shall thereupon cease and determine, but such expiration or determination shall not relieve the licensee of any liability theretofore incurred under this license.
- CHARGES FOR ELECTRICAL ENERGY.
The charges for electrical energy shall not exceed 1s. per unit for lighting and 6d. per unit for motor-power, heating, or cooking purposes; provided that “lighting purposes” shall include the operation of motor generators for lighting purposes; and provided further that if accounts are paid within fourteen days after due date the charges shall not exceed 10d. per unit for lighting purposes and 4½d. per unit for motor-power, cooking, or heating purposes.

- ROUTES RESERVED FOR GOVERNMENT LINES.
The Board shall not, without the consent in writing of the Minister of Public Works, erect any electric lines along the routes of the Government main trunk transmission-lines.
