Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, prohibiting the Sale in the Borough of Mount Eden of certain Goods comprised in the Trade of a Chemist.


WHEREAS a petition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the chemists’ shops within the Borough of Mount Eden, has been forwarded to me, desiring that the sale of certain goods comprised in the trade of a chemist—namely, bandages and dressings, drugs and chemicals, patent medicines, and hot-water bags—be prohibited during such time as the said shops are required to be closed in pursuance of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22 :

And whereas I, George James Anderson, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the sale of the said goods is comprised in the trade of a chemist in the said district, and that the signatures to such petition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops in the said district :

Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 33 of the said Act, I do hereby direct that on and after the 4th day of February, 1924, the sale of the said goods in the Borough of Mount Eden shall be and is hereby prohibited as follows : On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays after the hour of 6 p.m., on Fridays after the hour of 9.30 p.m., and on Saturdays after the hour of 9 p.m., with the following exception : On the working-day immediately preceding Christmas Day and on the working-day immediately preceding New Year’s Day the sale of the said goods is prohibited after the hour of 11 p.m.

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, fixing the Closing-hours of Chemists’ Shops in the Borough of Waitara.


WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the chemists’ shops in the Borough of Waitara, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the borough be closed in the evening of working-days as follows : On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 6 p.m., and on Saturdays at 8.30 p.m., with the following exceptions—(1) On New Year’s Eve and Christmas Eve the closing-hour shall be 11 p.m. ; (2) on the evening of any of the special days mentioned in or coming within the meaning of section 26 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, the closing-hour shall be 8.30 p.m. ; (3) on the evenings of 27th December and 2nd January the hour of closing shall be 8.30 p.m. :

And whereas I, George James Anderson, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops in the said borough :

Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 32 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, I do hereby direct that on and after the 4th day of February, 1924, all the chemists’ shops within the Borough of Waitara shall be closed accordingly.

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, fixing the Closing-hours of all Shops in the South Rakaia Road District.


WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the shops in the South Rakaia Road District has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the district be closed in the evening of working-days as follows : On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 6 p.m., and on Fridays at 9 p.m., with the following exceptions : 9 p.m. on Thursday for those shops which are closed during the whole of Friday in any week :

And whereas I, George James Anderson, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the shops within the said district :

Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 32 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, I do hereby direct that on and after the 4th day of February, 1924, all the shops within the South Rakaia Road District shall be closed accordingly.

The notice gazetted on the 12th December, 1918, fixing the closing-hours of all shops in the Rakaia Road Board District, is hereby cancelled as from the date of coming into operation of this notice.

Special Order made by the Waikohu County Council declaring that Californian Thistle shall be deemed not to be a Noxious Weed.—Notice No. Ag. 2340.

THE following special order, made by the Waikohu County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Noxious Weeds Act.

SPECIAL ORDER.

In accordance with the powers conferred by section 3 of the Noxious Weeds Amendment Act, 1923, the Waikohu County Council hereby resolves by way of special order that the plant known as Cnicus arvensis (Californian thistle) shall be deemed not to be a noxious weed within the County of Waikohu.

The above special order was made at a meeting held on the 14th day of December, 1923, and confirmed at a subsequent meeting held on the 11th day of January, 1924.
