WELLINGTON CITY COUNCIL.

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, the Wellington City Council hereby resolves as follows:—
That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £59,000, authorized to be raised by the Wellington City Council under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of paying off a loan of £67,000 raised by the Wellington City Council in 1914 for the purpose of paying off the Wellington City Tramways Paving and Town Hall Loan No. 2 of £75,000, the said Wellington City Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of seven-hundredths of a penny (7/100d.) in the pound upon the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property in the whole of the City of Wellington; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and shall be payable yearly on the first day of June in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of ten years from the 1st day of May, 1924, or until the loan is fully paid off.

NOTICE is hereby given that on the 29th day of April 1924, the above-named company passed the following extraordinary resolution:—
“ That it having been proved to satisfaction of the company that it cannot, by reason of its liabilities, continue its business, it is advisable to wind up the same, and that the company be wound up accordingly, that Mr. B. L. BAGNALL, of Auckland, Public Accountant, be appointed Liquidator.”

PRIVATE BILL.

In the matter of a Private Bill intended to be brought into the General Assembly of New Zealand, the Short Title of which is the THOMAS CAWTHRON TRUST ACT, 1924.

PURSUANT to Standing Order Number 16 of the House of Representatives relating to Private Bills, notice is hereby given that within fourteen days of the commencement of the session of the General Assembly of New Zealand to be held next after the date of this notice, William Charles Sadlier, Thomas Andrew Hemming Field, Henry Richard Duncan, Frederick Giles Gibbs, William Rout, and Horatio Everett (being trustees under the will of Thomas Cawthron, late of the City of Nelson, retired Shipping Agent, deceased) will present a petition to the said General Assembly praying and applying for leave to being in a Private Estate Bill to be called the Thomas Cawthron Trust Act, 1924.

The objects of the said petition, application, and proposed Bill are—
(1.) To provide for the appointment of personal and official trustees of the estate of the said Thomas Cawthron (deceased):
(2.) To provide that the number of trustees shall not be increased if a personal trustee becomes qualified to hold office as an official trustee, and vice versa:
(3.) To constitute the said trustees a body corporate under the name of “The Cawthron Institute Trust Board” with perpetual succession and a common seal:
(4.) To provide for successors of the said personal and official trustees:
(5.) To provide for the number of members of the said Board to constitute a quorum:
(6.) To provide for the time and place of meetings of the said Board:
(7.) To provide for the validity of acts of the said Board notwithstanding vacancies or defective appointments:
(8.) To provide in what manner contracts may be made by the said Board:
(9.) To empower the said Board to accept and receive any gift, bequest, or devise of money or property in trust for the purpose of the Cawthron Institute, and to administer any such trusts:
(10.) To provide that the said Board shall have and may exercise the powers exercisable by the trustees under the will of the said Thomas Cawthron (deceased), and giving certain additional powers for the administration of the said trust:
(11.) To enable and require the said Board to make provision for a Capital Conservation Account of £20,000:
(12.) To provide for the preparation of an annual balance-sheet and accounts and the audit and publication thereof:
(13.) To provide for the vesting of real and personal estate in the said Board:
(14.) To provide that the contracts, debts, and liabilities of the said trustees as such shall become the contracts, debts, and liabilities of the said Board:
(15.) To provide for the registration of title in respect of lands vested in the said Board by virtue of this Act:
(16.) To provide for the remuneration of the members of the said Board.

A copy of the said petition and copies of the proposed Bill will be deposited in the office of the Examiner of Standing Orders either before or within fourteen days after the commencement of the said session.
