SCHEDULE.

All that area in the Wellington Land District bounded by a line commencing at the mouth of the Wangaehu River, and proceeding thence up the middle of that river to a point due west about 18 chains from the western boundary of Block XIV, Mangawhero Survey District; thence along a right line through Okaipe Trig. Station to the summit of the eastern watershed of the Wangaehu River; thence north-westerly by lines from hill to hill along that summit to the Maungakaretu Trig. Station; thence south-easterly along a right line to a point in the middle of the Turakina River in line with the south-western boundary of Section 1, Block X, Maungakaretu Survey District; thence along that boundary, the southern boundary of the Ruanui No. 2 Block, and down the centre of the Panemango Stream to its confluence with the Tomakomako Stream; thence easterly along a right line to Trig. Station 32; thence northerly along a right line to Trig. Station 16, a right line to Trig. Station 17 (Auahitotara), a right line to Trig. Station 24 (Te Rotete), and a right line to Trig. Station 28 (Manukaiapu); thence easterly along a right line to Trig. Station 27 and a right line in the direction of Trig. Station 26 (Tawaki Tohunga) to its intersection with the middle of the Rangitikei River; thence down the middle of that river to its intersection with a right line between Trig. Stations 32 and 30 (Aorangi), and easterly along the said right line to Trig. Station 30; thence along a right line in the direction of the confluence of the northern branch of the Waipawa River with the Makaroro River to the summit of the Ruahine Range; thence southerly along the summit of the said range to the source of the Pourangaki Stream, and down that stream to its confluence with the Kawhatau Stream, down the middle of the said Kawhatau Stream to its confluence with the Rangitikei River; thence down the middle of the Rangitikei River to the Awahuri-Bull’s Road, and easterly along that road to the Oroua River; thence up the middle of the Oroua River to the Wellington–New Plymouth Railway line; thence south-easterly along said railway-line and Stony Creek Road to the Palmerston–Ashhurst Road; thence north-easterly along that road to the northernmost corner of Section 454, Block VIII, Kairanga Survey District; thence south-easterly along the Raukawa Road fronting Sections 454 and 455 of the said block to the centre of the Manawatu River; thence up the middle of that river to and along the northern boundary of the Wellington Land District to the mouth of the Waimata River; thence southerly along the sea-coast to Cape Palliser, westerly generally along the sea-coast to Cape Terawhiti, and northerly along the sea-coast to the mouth of the Wangaehu River, the point of commencement: including all adjacent islands except Kapiti.

Open Season for Native Game, License Fees, &c., Westland Acclimatization District.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, I, Richard Francis Bollard, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare the period from the 1st day of May to the 31st day of July, 1924 (both days inclusive) to be an open season in the Westland Acclimatization District, as described in the First Schedule hereto, except in the areas referred to in condition No. 3, for the taking or killing of the following native game—viz., grey duck and black swan—subject to the following conditions.

CONDITIONS.

1. LICENSES to take or kill such native game within the said district will be issued to any person on payment of ten shillings (10s.) each, and the Chief Postmaster at Hokitika and the Postmasters at Ross, Kumara, and Okarito are hereby authorized to sign and issue the said licenses.

2. The number of such native game that may be taken or killed by any one person in any one day shall not exceed five head in all.

3. Nothing in any license to take or kill native game shall authorize the holder thereof to take or kill native game on lands actually and exclusively used by any registered acclimatization society for acclimatization purposes, or on any sanctuary, or public domain.

4. No person shall kill or destroy any such native game, or shoot at or attempt to shoot at any such native game, with any automatic or auto-loading gun, unless it is converted into a gun capable of carrying two cartridges only, or with any rifle or pea-rifle, swivel-gun or pump-gun, or shall use any gun other than a shoulder-gun; and no gun shall be used for the purpose aforesaid the bore of which is larger than the size known as No. 12 at the muzzle, nor shall any gun be used which exceeds 10 lb. in weight.

Open Season for Imported Game and Native Game, License Fees, &c., Whangarei Acclimatization District.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, I, Richard Francis Bollard, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare the period from the 1st day of May to the 31st day of July, 1924 (both days inclusive), to be an open season in the Whangarei Acclimatization District, as described in the First Schedule hereto, except in the areas referred to in condition No. 3 and in the Second Schedule hereto, for the taking or killing of the following imported and native game—viz., cock pheasants and Australian quail, grey duck, black teal, and black swan; and the period from the 1st day of January to the 31st day of March, 1925 (both days inclusive), to be an open season in the said district for the taking or killing of the following native game—viz., godwits and knots—subject to the following conditions.

CONDITIONS.

1. LICENSES to take or kill such imported game and native game, including godwits and knots, within the said district will be issued to any person on payment of the sum of twenty shillings (20s.) each, and licenses to take or kill the following native game—viz., godwits and knots—will be issued to any person on payment of ten shillings (10s.) each; and the secretary of the Whangarei Acclimatization Society, or any person authorized by such secretary in that behalf, is hereby authorized to sign and issue the said licenses.
2. The number of such imported game and native game, that may be taken or killed by any one person in any one day shall not exceed twelve cock pheasants and twelve head in all of grey duck, black teal, and black swan.
3. Nothing in any license to take or kill imported game and native game, including godwits and knots, or the following native game only—viz., godwits and knots—shall authorize the holder thereof to take or kill imported game and native game, including godwits and knots, or godwits and knots only, on lands actually and exclusively used by any registered acclimatization society for acclimatization purposes, or on any sanctuary or public domain, or any land mentioned in the Second Schedule hereto.
4. No person shall kill or destroy any such imported game or native game, or shoot at or attempt to shoot at any such imported game or native game, with any automatic or auto-loading gun, unless it is converted into a gun capable of carrying two cartridges only, or with any rifle or pea-rifle, swivel-gun or pump-gun, or shall use any gun other than a shoulder-gun; and no gun shall be used for the purpose aforesaid the bore of which is larger than the size known as No. 12 at the muzzle, nor shall any gun be used which exceeds 10 lb. in weight.
5. Any person committing a breach of any of these conditions is liable, on conviction, to a fine of £20.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

All that area comprising the County of Whangarei and part of the County of Otamatea.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

Areas, in addition to those referred to in condition No. 3, excepted from the open season wherein imported game and native game, or native game only, shall not be taken or killed:—

All that area in Block No. 3743B, Maunu No. 1B, together with that area situated within a radius of half a mile thereof.
