CONDITIONS.

  1. LICENSES to take or kill such imported game and native game, including godwits, within the said district will be issued to any person on payment of the sum of twenty shillings (20s.) each, and licenses to take or kill such native game only, including godwits, will be issued to any person on payment of ten shillings (10s.) each; and the secretary of the South Canterbury Acclimatization Society, or any person authorized by such secretary in that behalf, is hereby authorized to sign and issue the said licenses.

  2. The number of such imported game and native game, or native game only, that may be taken or killed by any one person in any one day shall not exceed twelve mallard duck, ten godwits, twenty-five head in all of grey duck, spoonbill duck, black teal, and black swan.

  3. Nothing in any license to take or kill imported game and native game, including godwits (or native game only, including godwits), shall authorize the holder thereof to take or kill imported game and native game, including godwits (or native game only, including godwits), on lands actually and exclusively used by any registered acclimatization society for acclimatization purposes, or on any sanctuary or public domain, or any land mentioned in the Second Schedule hereto.

  4. No person shall kill or destroy any such imported game or native game, or shoot at or attempt to shoot at any such imported game or native game, with any automatic or auto-loading gun, unless it is converted into a gun capable of carrying two cartridges only, or with any rifle or pea-rifle, swivel-gun or pump-gun, or shall use any gun other than a shoulder-gun; and no gun shall be used for the purpose aforesaid the bore of which is larger than the size known as No. 12 at the muzzle, nor shall any gun be used which exceeds 10 lb. in weight.

  5. Any person committing a breach of any of these conditions is liable, on conviction, to a fine of £20.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

All that area comprising the counties of Geraldine and Levels, and that portion of the County of Mackenzie lying to the east of a line commencing at Mount Cook and proceeding by a right line over the Ball Hut to the Tasman Glacier, thence along the western boundary of the Tasman Glacier to the Tasman River, thence by a line along the middle of that river, and the middle of Lake Pukaki, and the middle of Pukaki River to the Waitaki River, together with the Boroughs of Geraldine, Timaru, and Temuka.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

Area, in addition to those referred to in condition No. 3, excepted from the open season wherein imported game and native game, or native game only, shall not be taken or killed:—

Milford Lagoon.

Open Season for Native Game, License Fee, &c., Southland Acclimatization District.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, I, Richard Francis Bollard, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare the period from the 1st day of May to the 31st day of July, 1924 (both days inclusive), to be an open season in the Southland Acclimatization District, as described in the First Schedule hereto, except in the areas referred to in condition No. 3 and in the Second Schedule hereto, for the taking or killing of the following native game—viz., grey duck, spoonbill duck (or shoveller), and black swan; and the period from the 1st day of February to the 31st day of March, 1925 (both days inclusive), to be an open season in the said district for the taking or killing of the following native game—viz., godwits—subject to the following conditions.

  5. Any person committing a breach of any of these conditions is liable, on conviction, to a fine of £20.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

All that area consisting of so much of the County of Southland as lies to the westward of the Mataura River, together with the counties of Fiord, Wallace, and Stewart Island.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

Areas, in addition to those referred to in condition No. 3, excepted from the open season wherein native game shall not be taken or killed:—

  1. Section 27, Block IV, Invercargill Hundred.

  2. Sections 19, 20, 32, 37, 43, and parts 9 and 11, Block IV, Campbelltown Hundred (Mr. Thomas Maclean’s property).

  3. Sections 2 and 3, Block VI, Lillburn Survey District, containing about 2,429 acres (Mr. Arthur Struan Gardner’s property).

Open Season for Imported Game and Native Game, License Fee, &c., Stratford Acclimatization District.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals Protection and Game Act, 1921–22, I, Richard Francis Bollard, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare the period from the 1st day of May to the 31st day of July, 1924 (both days inclusive), to be an open season in the Stratford Acclimatization District, as described in the Schedule hereto, except in the areas referred to in condition No. 3, for the taking or killing of the following imported game and native game—viz., cock pheasants, Californian quail, black teal, grey duck, and black swan—subject to the following conditions.


CONDITIONS.

  1. LICENSES to take or kill such imported game and native game within the said district will be issued to any person on payment of the sum of twenty shillings (20s.) each, and the Postmasters at Stratford, Toko, Midhurst, Whangamomona, Ngaere, and Te Wera are hereby authorized to sign and issue the said licenses.

  2. The number of such imported game and native game that may be taken or killed by any one person in any one day shall not exceed twelve cock pheasants, and twenty-five head in all of black teal, grey duck, and black swan.

  3. Nothing in any license to take or kill imported game and native game shall authorize the holder thereof to take or kill imported game and native game on lands actually and exclusively used by any registered acclimatization society for acclimatization purposes, or on any sanctuary or public domain.

  4. No person shall kill or destroy any such imported game or native game, or shoot at or attempt to shoot at any such imported game or native game, with any automatic or auto-loading gun, unless it is converted into a gun capable of carrying two cartridges only, or with any rifle or pea-rifle, swivel-gun or pump-gun, or shall use any gun other than a shoulder-gun; and no gun shall be used for the purpose aforesaid the bore of which is larger than the size known as No. 12 at the muzzle, nor shall any gun be used which exceeds 10 lb. in weight.
