THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Board of the Ostend Road District is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

OSTEND ROAD BOARD.
PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the Ostend Road District was taken on the 7th day of February, 1924, on the proposal of the Ostend Road Board to borrow the sum of £3,700 for the following objects:—
- Erecting and completing retaining-wall on Wharf Road .. .. .. .. £60
- Forming, making, and metalling Wharf Road from wharf to junction of Onetangi and Wharf Roads .. .. .. .. 150
- Forming, making, and metalling Onetangi Road .. 2,500
- Forming portion of Zig-zag Road .. .. 45
- Forming portion of Short Street .. .. 15
- Provision of public offices for the district, including the purchase of all necessary land and erection of all necessary buildings, also the purchase of roadmaking plant .. .. 300
- Provision and acquisition of a quarry, together with all necessary plant .. .. .. 200
- Expenses of raising the loan and payment of first year’s interest and sinking fund, also engineering charges, expenses, and contingencies .. .. .. .. 430
Total .. .. .. .. £3,700
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 229;
the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 39;
the number of informal votes was 2.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Board of the Thames Valley Electric-power District, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

THAMES VALLEY ELECTRIC-POWER BOARD.
PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Thames Valley Electric-power Board District taken on the 12th day of March, 1924, on the proposal of the Thames Valley Electric-power Board to borrow the sum of £150,000 for the purpose of purchasing and constructing electric works within the meaning of and pursuant to the Electric-power Boards Act, 1918,—
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 471;
the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 154.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Result of Poll on Loan Proposals.
PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Westport, taken on the 21st day of March, 1924, on the proposals of the Westport Borough Council to borrow the sum of £29,500 for the following purposes:—
Loan No. 1: £23,500 for the purpose of installing electric light and power within the Borough of Westport—
The number of votes recorded for this proposal was 430;
the number of votes recorded against this proposal was 203;
the number of informal votes, 53.
Loan No. 2: £3,000 for the purpose of advances of money to ratepayers for private electric connections—
The number of votes recorded for this proposal was 383;
the number of votes recorded against this proposal, 202; the number of informal votes, 101.
Loan No. 3: £3,000 for the purpose of purchasing machinery, bins, elevators, and crusher for street-improvements—
The number of votes recorded for this proposal was 413;
the number of votes recorded against this proposal, 188; the number of informal votes, 85.
I therefore declare that each of the above proposals was carried.
