Inventions and Designs exhibited at the British Empire Exhibition (1924) Incorporated.

JELLICOE, Governor-General.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred on me by sections fifty and sixty-three of the Patents, Designs, and Trade-Marks Act, 1921-22, I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the public exhibition of works of industry, art, and science commencing at Wembley Park, London, England, on the twenty-third day of April, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-four, to be called the “British Empire Exhibition (1924) Incorporated,” is an Industrial Exhibition for the purposes of the said Act.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 17th day of March, 1924.

IN accordance with the requirements of the Education Act, 1914, I hereby notify that an extraordinary election held to elect one member to represent the urban area of the Education District of Wellington resulted in James John Clark being elected, the voting being—

Notice to make Returns of Land under the Land and Income Tax Act, 1923.

NOTICE is hereby given that in pursuance of the above Act and the Regulations made thereunder, every person and company within the meaning of the said Act, whether a taxpayer or not, being owner of land in New Zealand, is hereby required to make and furnish to me, in the prescribed form, returns of such land as at 12 o’clock noon on the 31st day of March, 1924.

If the total unimproved value of the land of any person or company, as assessed under the Valuation of Land Act, 1908, does not exceed £500, a return of land need not be furnished.

And, further, notice is hereby given that such returns shall in all cases be delivered at or forwarded to the office of the Commissioner of Taxes, in the Government Buildings at Wellington, on or before the 8th day of April, 1924.

NOTE.—Forms of return may be obtained at any postal money-order office; they will not be sent to taxpayers from the office of the Commissioner of Taxes unless written application is made for them.

“Owner of land” includes a lessee of land owned by Natives.

SPECIAL NOTE.—Any person failing to furnish a return at the prescribed time is liable to a penalty up to £100.


CROWN LANDS NOTICES.

Lands in Gisborne Land District forfeited.

Department of Lands and Survey,
Wellington, 11th March, 1924.

NOTICE is hereby given that the lease and license of the undermentioned lands having been declared forfeited by resolution of the Gisborne Land Board, the said lands have reverted to the Crown under the provisions of the Land Act, 1908, and the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915, and amendments.

Education Reserve in Southland Land District for Lease by Public Auction.

District Lands and Survey Office,
Invercargill, 17th March, 1924.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned education reserve will be offered for lease by public auction for term of twenty-one years at the District Lands and Survey Office, Invercargill, on Tuesday, 29th April, 1924, at 11 o’clock a.m., under the provisions of the Education Reserves Act, 1908, and amendments and the Public Bodies’ Leases Act, 1908.


SCHEDULE.

SOUTHLAND LAND DISTRICT.

Town of Invercargill.

SECTION 3, Block XXVII: Area, 1 rood; upset annual rental, £5. Building-site with frontage to Ettrick Street.

ABSTRACT OF CONDITIONS OF LEASE.

  1. Possession will be given on day of sale.
  2. Term, twenty-one years from 1st July, 1924.
  3. At end of term, lease to be submitted at auction weighted with valuation for improvements payable by incoming tenant.
  4. A half-year’s rent at the rate offered and rent for the broken period between the date of sale and 30th June, 1924, lease and registration fees (£2 2s.), and stamp duty to be paid on the fall of the hammer.
  5. No assignment, sublease, mortgage, or other disposition without consent of Land Board.
  6. Interest at rate of 10 per cent. per annum to be paid on rent in arrears.
  7. Consent of Land Board to be obtained before subdividing, erecting any buildings, or effecting other improvements.
  8. Leases will be registered under Land Transfer Act.
  9. Lease liable to forfeiture if conditions violated.

Form of lease may be perused and full particulars obtained at this office.
