Removal of Shingle, Sand, &c., from North Auckland Beaches.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon me by by-law made under the provisions of the Harbours Act, 1923, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 5 of the 18th day of January, 1923, I, George James Anderson, Minister of Marine, do hereby prescribe that the rates of payment to be made in respect of all stone, shingle, sand, or shell removed from or over any portion of the shore, or bed of any harbour, or navigable river, or of the sea, shall be those set forth in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.
FROM any portion of the foreshore extending from Rodney Point to the North Cape—
Stone and/or shingle, 1s. 6d. per cubic yard.
Sand and/or shell, 9d. per cubic yard.
Provided that—
(a.) In the case of material removed from above and below high-water mark, or removed from above high-water and deposited below high water to be washed, the rates shall be one-half of the above prescribed rates :
(b.) When dredged from below low-water mark, one-quarter prescribed rates.
The minimum rate shall be not less than 3d. per cubic yard.
Pukeokahu-Taoroa Rabbit District.—Proposed Loan of £3,000.—Notice No. Ag. 2366.

THE following certificate under the hand of the Chairman of the Pukeokahu-Taoroa Rabbit District is published in accordance with the requirements of section 109 (2) of the Rabbit Nuisance Act, 1908.

In the matter of the Rabbit Nuisance Act, 1908, and the amendments thereto and pursuant to section 109 thereof, and in the matter of a £3,000 loan to be raised for the purpose of erecting rabbit-proof fences in the Pukeokahu-Taoroa Rabbit District, I, William Doole, Chairman of the Trustees of the Pukeokahu-Taoroa Rabbit District, certify as follows :—
- That a petition of the ratepayers of the district has been delivered to me declaring their desire that the formality of a poll on the above loan proposal be dispensed with.
- The total number of ratepayers signing the petition is twenty-one.
- The total number of votes possessed by the signatories is twenty-one.
- The total number of ratepayers to be rated for the loan is thirty-nine.
- The total number of votes possessed by all ratepayers is thirty-nine.
I therefore declare that the proposal to raise the loan has been carried.

THE following special order made by the Bruce County Council is published in accordance with the provisions of the Noxious Weeds Act.

SPECIAL ORDER.
THAT Canadian or Californian thistle shall be deemed not to be a noxious weed within the County of Bruce.
The resolution making the above special order was passed at a special meeting of the Council held on the 2nd October, 1923, and confirmed at a subsequent meeting held on the 6th November, 1923.

Notice to Mariners No. 16 of 1924.
WANGANUI.—EXTENSION OF CASTLECLIFF WHARF SEAWARD.

Wellington, N.Z., 15th March, 1924.
THE Wanganui Harbour Board notify that the white light with green sector, exhibited from the end of the present wharf (previously known as Dredge Wharf), will be removed without further notice.
A temporary white light will be shown from the outermost corner of the wharf under construction.
The outrigger for pile-driver will project several feet beyond the face-line of the present wharf, and vessels should pass with caution, especially during the ebb stream, which sets into the wharf.

KARAMEA RIVER.—POSITION OF LIGHT ALTERED.

NOTICE is hereby given that the flagstaff has been shifted and re-erected in a position 311°, 3·3 cables from the end of the Government Wharf.
The occasional light will now be exhibited from the staff in the new position at a height of 30 ft., and will be visible from 000 through east to 180.

THE Bay of Islands Harbour Board notify that a mooring dolphin has been erected at a distance of 120 ft. in a north-westerly direction from the seaward end of the Opua Wharf.
