Inscribed Stock maturing 20th April, 1929, will be closed from the 1st April to the 20th April, 1924, inclusive, for the purpose of the issue of half-yearly interest.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Council of the Borough of Milton, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

BOROUGH OF MILTON.

Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Milton, taken on Wednesday, the 19th day of December, 1923, on the proposal of the Milton Borough Council to borrow the sum of £400 for the purpose of purchasing plant to screen moving pictures,—

The number of valid votes recorded for the proposal was 147; the number of valid votes recorded against the proposal 127; the majority of votes in favour of proposal, 20.

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

BOROUGH OF AVONDALE.

Result of Polls on Proposals to raise Loans.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of a special-rating area of the Borough of Avondale, taken on the 23rd day of February, 1924, on the proposal of the Avondale Borough Council to borrow the sum of seven thousand pounds for the purpose of water-reticulation in the Avondale South Area,—

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 58; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 4.

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of a special-rating area of the Borough of Avondale taken on the 23rd day of February, 1924, on the proposal of the Avondale Borough Council to borrow the sum of three thousand pounds for the purpose of water-reticulation in the Waterview Area,—

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 9; the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 3.

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Board of the Waitaki Electric-power District, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

WAITAKI ELECTRIC-POWER DISTRICT.

PURSUANT to the provisions of section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the Waitaki Electric-power District was taken on the 7th day of March, 1924, to determine the proposal of the Waitaki Electric-power Board to raise a special loan of one hundred and thirty-five thousand pounds (£135,000) for electricity purposes, which said purposes were set out in detail in advertisements in the Oamaru Mail newspaper prior to the date of the poll on such proposal.

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 1,286, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 124; and as the total number of valid votes recorded in favour of the proposal was more than three-fifths of the total number of valid votes recorded at the poll, I hereby declare the said proposal to be carried.

Dated at Oamaru this 11th day of March, 1924.

Waikato County Council.

Special Order merging the Huntly Road District in the County of Waikato.

In pursuance of the provisions of sections 27, 28, 29 of the Counties Act, 1920, and upon the petition of a majority of the ratepayers of the Huntly Road District possessing in the aggregate not less than half the rateable property in such district, the Waikato County Council hereby declares the Huntly Road Board dissolved, and the Huntly Road District merged in the County of Waikato, on and after the 1st day of April, 1924.
