Notifying the Proposed Exchange of Crown Land in the North Auckland Land District for other Land.

JELLICOE, Governor-General.

WHEREAS by section one hundred and forty-two of the Land Act, 1908, as amended by section six of the Land Laws Amendment Act, 1920, it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor-General, whenever he deems it expedient in the public interest, to grant in fee-simple any area of Crown land which is subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1908, in exchange for the fee-simple of any other land, and on any such exchange to pay or receive any sum by way of equality of exchange:

And whereas, in the opinion of the Governor-General, it is expedient to exchange the Crown land described in the First Schedule hereto for the land of equal value described in the Second Schedule hereto, and the owner of the land described in the Second Schedule has agreed to such exchange:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise of the aforesaid powers and authorities, doth hereby declare that it is his intention to grant in fee-simple the area of Crown land described in the First Schedule hereto in exchange for the fee-simple of the land described in the Second Schedule.


FIRST SCHEDULE.

DESCRIPTION OF LAND AUTHORIZED TO BE EXCHANGED.

ALL that area in the North Auckland Land District, containing by admeasurement 8 acres 2 roods 34 perches, more or less, being Section 9 of Block VI, Waipu Survey District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 16/1148, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon edged red.


SECOND SCHEDULE.

DESCRIPTION OF LAND TO BE OBTAINED IN EXCHANGE THEREFOR.

ALL that area in the North Auckland Land District, containing by admeasurement 8 acres 2 roods 25·9 perches, more or less, being part of Allotment 129 of the Parish of Waipu—commencing at a point on the Waipu South Road being the northernmost corner of Allotment 129 aforesaid—towards the east by the Waipu South Road, 470·1 links; towards the south-east generally by Allotment 129 aforesaid, 299·3 links, 342·4 links, 405·9 links, 283·5 links, 179·3 links, 216·5 links, 335·9 links, 236·4 links, 835·5 links, and 241·3 links, to a public road; towards the south-west by the said public road, 53·9 links; towards the north-west generally by the said public road, 1560·0 links, 111·6 links, 217·4 links, 520·1 links, and 794·4 links, to the point of commencement. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 16/1148A, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon edged red.

Opening Land in the Hawke’s Bay Land District for Sale or Selection.

JELLICOE, Governor-General.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided by section one hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Tuesday, the sixth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-four; and also that the land mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1908.


SCHEDULE.

HAWKE’S BAY LAND DISTRICT.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.

Hawke’s Bay County.—Puketapu Survey District.

SECTION 2, Block III: Area, 472 acres. Capital value, £4,225. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £105 12s. 6d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £84 10s.

Weighted with £625, valuation for improvements, including cottage (four rooms) and shed, and 200 chains boundary and subdivisional fencing. This amount must be paid in cash, or, in the event of the successful applicant being a discharged soldier, may be treated as an advance under the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, in which case a mortgage to the Crown must be executed.

Distant about twenty miles from Napier by formed road. Altitude from 1,100 ft. to 1,500 ft. Open agricultural and pastoral country, well grassed and watered by streams and springs. Comprising generally easy undulating country about one-third of which is suitable for growing fodder crops. Soil fair to good, on pumice and clay, with limestone outcrop. About half ploughable.

Warrant vesting the Control of the Ongarue River Bridge on the Okaihae Road in the Ohura County Council.

JELLICOE, Governor-General.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the Public Works Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities in anywise enabling me in this behalf, I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby direct that the bridge over the Ongarue River on the Okaihae Road (as more particularly described in the Schedule hereto) shall, on and after the date of the gazetting hereof, be under the exclusive care, control, and management of the Ohura County Council.


SCHEDULE.

THAT bridge on the boundary between the Auckland and Taranaki Land Districts over the Ongarue River on the Okaihae Road, known as the Ongarue River Bridge, on the boundary between the Ohura and Taumarunui Counties at a point on the eastern boundary of Section 1, Block IV, Rangi Survey District. As the site of the said bridge is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 58807, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon marked with a red cross.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 12th day of March, 1924.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon me by subsection five of section nine of the Maori Councils Act, 1900, I, John Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint

William Hunia

to be a member of the Maori Council for the Maori Council District of Hokianga.
