Notice respecting Proposed Alteration of Boundaries of the Borough of Waimate.
Department of Internal Affairs,
Wellington, 21st December, 1923.
PURSUANT to section 132 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920, it is hereby notified that a petition, in accordance with regulations, signed by not less than one-fourth of the electors of the area described in the Schedule hereto, being part of the Borough of Waimate, has been presented to His Excellency the Governor-General praying that the said area may be excluded from the said borough and included in the County of Waimate. All persons affected are hereby called upon to lodge any written objections to or petitions against the proposed alteration which they desire to make within one month from the first publication of this notice. Such objections or petitions are to be addressed and forwarded to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Wellington.
SCHEDULE.
AREA PROPOSED TO BE EXCLUDED FROM BOROUGH OF WAIMATE.
ALL that area in the Land District of Canterbury, being part of Rural Section 5647, bounded on the north-east by Rural Section 5870, a distance of 2750 links; on the south-east by Rural Section 5726; on the south-west by Rural Section 5611, a distance of 2750 links; and on north-west by other part of Rural Section 5647, a distance of 500 links: be all the aforesaid linkages a little more or less.

Notice respecting Proposed Alteration of Boundaries, Orton Drainage District, County of Raglan.

IT is hereby notified that a petition has been presented to His Excellency the Governor-General, under the Land Drainage Amendment Act, 1913, praying that the area described in the Schedule hereto may be included in the Orton Drainage District. All persons affected are hereby called upon to lodge any written objections to or petitions against the proposed inclusion which they desire to lodge, within one month from the first publication of this notice, such objections or petitions to be addressed to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Wellington.

Hauraki Plains Rating-area.—Penalty on Overdue Rates.

IN pursuance of section 28 of the Rating Amendment Act, 1910, and the Hauraki Plains Amendment Act, 1911, the ratepayers within the district constituted by the last-mentioned Act are hereby notified that 10 per cent. additional will be added to all rates for the year ended 31st March, 1924, unpaid on the 22nd February, 1924.
Rates may be paid at any money-order office or to the Collector of Rates, P.O. Box 1659, Auckland.

I, ALEXANDER FERGUSON, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Waotu Rabbit-proof Fencing District, do hereby certify that at the written request of the ratepayers the formality of a poll has been dispensed with; that the total number of ratepayers signing such request, the total number of votes possessed by them, the total number of ratepayers to be rated for the proposed loan, and the total number of votes possessed by them, is four in each case, and I hereby declare the proposal to raise the loan to be carried.

THE following special order made by the Tuapeka County Council is published in accordance with the provisions of the Noxious Weeds Act.

SPECIAL ORDER.
THE Council of the County of Tuapeka hereby declares that the following plants mentioned in the Second Schedule of the principal Act shall be deemed not to be noxious weeds within the district of the County of Tuapeka, viz. :
Ragwort.
Californian thistle.
The above special order was made at a special meeting of the Tuapeka County Council held on 9th day of November, 1923, and confirmed at a subsequent meeting held on the 14th day of December, 1923.
Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, prohibiting the Sale in the Borough of Balclutha of certain Goods comprised in the Trade of a Tobacconist.
WHEREAS a petition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the tobacconists’ shops within the Borough of Balclutha has been forwarded to me, desiring that the sale of certain goods comprised in the trade of a tobacconist—namely, tobacco and cigarettes—be prohibited during such times as the said shops are required to be closed in pursuance of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22 :
And whereas I, George James Anderson, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the sale of the said goods is comprised in the trade of a tobacconist in the said district, and that the signatures to such petition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops in the said district :
Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 33 of the said Act, I do hereby direct that on and after the 14th day of January, 1924, the sale of the said goods in the Borough of Balclutha shall be and is hereby prohibited as follows: on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays after the hour of 8 p.m.
