Notice to Mariners.—No. 80 of 1923.
KAIPARA HARBOUR. — DARGAVILLE BRIDGE. — LEFT SPAN CLOSED.

Wellington, N.Z., 15th December, 1923.
NOTICE is hereby given that the left span entrance of the Dargaville Bridge will shortly be closed for traffic until further notice is given.
The right span (eleventh span from Dargaville side) will be marked by two white lights placed on the structure at each side of the entrance.
The lights will be of the ordinary “hurricane” type, and will be unwatched.
The width of the right span is 38 ft. 8 in., and great care must be exercised when navigating in the vicinity.
This notice supersedes and cancels Notice to Mariners No. 35 of 1923.

THE following Notices to Mariners, which have been received from the Hydrographic Office, London, the Department of Trade and Customs, Melbourne, and the Comptroller of Customs, Suva, are published for general information.

BORNEO, EAST COAST.
Tarakan Light-vessel.—Alteration in Position.
New Position.—At a distance of about 3¼ miles westward of charted position. Lat. 3° 14′ 00″ N., long. 117° 52′ 00″ E., on chart No. 3577.
Description.—As described in the Admiralty List of Lights.
SOLOMON ISLANDS.
The following report from the Captain of H.M.A.S. “Brisbane,” with reference to shoal waters between Bougainville Strait and Kieta, is published for general information :—
“A shoal carrying less than 4 fathoms not corrected for tide has been located in position 6° 25′ S. lat., 155° 55′ E long., on Admiralty Chart No. 329.
“This shoal is dangerous to vessels traversing inner route Bougainville Strait to Kieta.”
AUSTRALIA, SOUTH COAST.
Spencer Gulf.—South Light, Eastern Shoal.—Intended New Light.—Buoy to be withdrawn.
Mariners and others are hereby notified that a group flashing white light (U) will be established on the south end of Eastern Shoal, and the red and white striped buoy will be removed on or about 1st March, 1924.
Position.—Lat. 33° 10½′ S., long. 137° 43½′ E., on Chart No. 403.
Details.—
Character.—Group flashing white light, showing four flashes in quick succession every twelve seconds, thus: Flash ⅓ sec., eclipse 1 sec. ; flash ⅓ sec., eclipse 1 sec. ; flash ⅓ sec., eclipse 1 sec. ; flash ⅓ sec., eclipse 7⅓ sec.
Elevation.—18 feet. Visibility.—9 miles.
Power.—300 candles..
Structure.—Lantern, painted white, carried on pile structure 20 ft. high.
Remarks.—The light will be unwatched.
NOTE.—No further notice will be given.
Gulf of St. Vincent.—Marion Reef.—Lighthouse destroyed.—Light Buoy established (U).
Mariners and others are hereby notified that the steel frame tower that carried a group flashing white light on the south-eastern end of Marion Reef has been destroyed, and has been replaced by a light buoy showing a flashing white light.
Position.—Lat. 35° 10′ S., long. 137° 49′ E., on Chart No. 2389.
Description.—A spherical light buoy, with a framework superstructure painted black, showing a flashing white light having the undermentioned character—
Character.—Flashing, white, every three seconds, thus: Flash ⅓ sec., eclipse 2⅔ secs.
Visibility.—8 miles.
Remarks.—The light will be unwatched. No further notice will be given.
TASMANIA.—NORTH COAST.
Stanley.—Hyfield Point.—Intended New Light (U).
Mariners and others are hereby notified that a group flashing white light (U) will be established on Hyfield Point on or about 16th February, 1924.
Position.—On the summit of Hyfield Point (134′), 1·6 cables distant, bearing 201° from Circular Head Light. Lat. 40° 44′ S., long. 145° 17′ E., on Chart No. 3687.
Details.—
Character.—Group flashing white light showing three flashes in quick succession every nine seconds, thus: Flash ⅓ sec., eclipse 1 sec. ; flash ⅓ sec., eclipse 1 sec. ; flash ⅓ sec., eclipse 6 sec.
Elevation.—150 feet. Visibility.—18 miles.
Power.—3,000 candles.
Structure.—Square concrete house with white lantern 22 ft. in height.
Remarks.—The light will be unwatched. The fixed light on Circular Head will be continued as heretofore.
NOTE.—Further notice will be given.
Public Service Entrance.—Special Examination, June, 1924.
NOTICE is hereby given that it has been decided to hold a special Public Service Entrance Examination for male candidates commencing about the 24th June next. The examination will most probably be held at the following centres: Whangarei, Auckland, Hamilton, Thames, New Plymouth, Stratford, Wanganui, Palmerston North, Gisborne, Napier, Dannevirke, Masterton, Wellington, Blenheim, Nelson, Reefton, Greymouth, Hokitika, Christchurch, Timaru, Oamaru, Dunedin, Gore, and Invercargill; but, should sufficient candidates offer, the examination will be held also at other centres. If necessary, candidates will be required to attend at some centre other than the one mentioned in their application forms.
Entries on proper forms, obtainable from the offices of the Public Service Commissioner, the Education Boards, or the Education Department, will be received by the Director of Education, Wellington, up to the 30th April.
An entrance fee of £1 is payable at any post-office money-order office.

Incorporated Societies Act, 1908.—Alteration of Name of Society.
I HEREBY give notice, pursuant to the power conferred upon me by the Incorporated Societies Act, 1908, that by an alteration of the rules of the Otago Land Agents’ and Auctioneers’ Association (Incorporated), duly authorized by the members thereof, the name of the Otago Land Agents’ and Auctioneers’ Association (Incorporated) has been altered to “The Real Estate Institute of Otago (Incorporated),” as from the 25th day of October, 1923.

Incorporated Societies Act, 1908.—Declaration by the Assistant Registrar dissolving a Society.
I, GEORGE HUME SEDDON, Assistant Registrar of Incorporated Societies, do hereby declare that, as it has been made to appear to me that The Kaikoura Brass Band (Incorporated) is no longer carrying on operations, the aforesaid society is hereby dissolved, in pursuance of section 28 of the Incorporated Societies Act, 1908.
