NOTICE is hereby given that the license of the under-
mentioned land having been declared forfeited by
resolution of the Wellington Land Board, the said land has
reverted to the Crown under the provisions of the Land Act,
1908.

Lands in Gisborne Land District for Sale or Lease to Discharged Soldiers.

District Lands and Survey Office,
Gisborne, 27th November, 1923.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned lands
are open for sale or lease to discharged soldiers under
the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915, and the regula-
tions thereunder, and applications will be received at the
District Lands and Survey Office, Gisborne, up to 4 o’clock
p.m. on Wednesday, the 16th day of January, 1923.

The lands may be purchased for cash or on deferred pay-
ments, or selected on lease for a term of sixty-six years,
with right of renewal for further successive terms of sixty-six
years, and a right to acquire the freehold.

Applicants must appear personally before the Land Board
for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office,
Gisborne, on Thursday, the 17th day of January, 1923, at
10.30 o’clock a.m.

The ballot will be held at the District Lands and Survey
Office, Gisborne, at the conclusion of the examination of
applicants.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION.

This block, ranging in altitude from 1,400 ft. to 1,700 ft.
above sea-level, originally forming part of the Waipiro Station,
held under Native lease for the past twenty-nine years, is
all improved country in good heart and carrying a good
sole of English and native grass, with the exception of
Section 1, Block XIII, Waipiro, and Section 2, Block XVI,
Mata Survey Districts, that comprise unimproved country in
manuka and mixed scrub. Generally, good soil on papa
and clay formation with outcrops of sandstone; steep to
undulating; fairly well watered; and good homestead-sites
can be found on all the sections. Suitable for sheep and
cattle raising. Situated on the Main East Coast and Ihungia
Roads, the Main Road being metalled. Distant from five
to seventeen miles from freezing-works and shipping port at
Tokomaru Bay.

DESCRIPTION OF SECTIONS.

Section 1, Block X, Mata Survey District, comprises an
area of 1,197 acres 1 rood 39 perches, situated about fifteen
and a half miles from Tokomaru Bay and four and a half
miles from the Tinaaruhe Post-office by good formed metalled
road. Good undulating grass country; papa formation,
chiefly English and native grasses. Subdivided into four
paddocks. About 75 chains boundary fencing required to
complete ring fencing; 430 chains internal fencing.

Section 2, Block X, Mata Survey District, comprises an
area of 682 acres 3 roods 20 perches. Situated about fourteen
miles from Tokomaru Bay and three miles from Tinaaruhe
Post-office by unmetalled formed road. Divided into two
pieces by Ihungia Road. Good undulating grass country,
papa formation. English and native grasses. Ring-fenced
with the exception of about 80 chains on the eastern bound-
ary.

Section 3, Block X, Mata Survey District, comprises an
area of 711 acres 2 roods 17 perches, situated about fifteen
and a half miles from Tokomaru Bay and four and a half
miles from Tinaaruhe Post-office by unmetalled formed road,
Ring-fenced, with the exception of the frontage to the
Ihungia Road. Subdivided into four paddocks. The sec-
tion is broken by gullies with a tendency to slip. Well
grassed with English and native grasses. About 113 chains
of internal fencing.

Section 1, Block XIV, Mata Survey District, comprises
an area of 837 acres 0 roods 16 perches, situated about
seventeen miles from Tokomaru Bay and six miles from
Tinaaruhe Post-office by unmetalled formed road. Sub-
divided into three paddocks. About 86 chains internal
fencing; good sheep-yards. The section is ring-fenced and
well watered, and covered in native and English grasses.

Section 1, Block XI, Mata Survey District, comprises an
area of 672 acres, situated about thirteen miles from Toko-
maru Bay and two miles from Tinaaruhe Post-office, by
formed unmetalled road. The section is divided into two
pieces by the Ihungia Road, and is only partly ring-fenced.
Well grassed with native and English grasses.

Section 2, Block XI, Mata Survey District, comprises an
area of 760 acres 1 rood 18 perches, situated about nine
miles from Tokomaru Bay by good formed metalled road
and a quarter of a mile from Tinaaruhe Post-office. The
section is divided into two parts by the Takapau–Waipiro
Road. The part north of the road is covered with manuka
scrub and the balance is well grassed, chiefly native and
English grasses, and includes about 10 acres native bush.
The section is partly ring-fenced; about 64 chains internal
fencing.

Section 1, Block XIII, Waipiro Survey District, and
Section 2, Block XVI, Mata Survey District, comprises an
area of approximately 2,642 acres, situated about five miles
from Tokomaru Bay by good metalled road. Section 1 is
very steep and broken with precipitous cliffs along the
coast-line, and principally covered with manuka-scrub with
small patches of native bush in gullies. Section 2 is very
broken and mostly covered with manuka and light
bush; about 250 acres on the west side in English and
native grasses. A good homestead-site to be had on the
main East Coast Road. Access can also be had to Waipiro
and Tokomaru Bay by old Tawhiti Road. The boundaries
are only partly fenced.

Education Reserves in Nelson Land District for Lease by Public Auction.

District Lands and Survey Office,
Nelson, 27th November, 1923.

NOTICE is hereby given that the education reserves
described in the Schedule hereto will be offered for
lease by public auction at the Courthouse, Westport, at 11
o’clock a.m. on Wednesday, 16th January, 1924, under the
provisions of the Education Reserves Act, 1908, and amend-
ments, and the Public Bodies’ Leases Act, 1908.

PART Section 1, Town of Westport: Area, 20 perches; upset
annual rental, £7.

Situated on the eastern side of Palmerston Street, the
main street of Westport, about twenty-five chains from the
post-office. Has a frontage to main street of 33 ft. A good
business-site.
