The total births registered for the urban areas amounted to 935, as against 1,126 in August—a decrease of 171.
The deaths in September were 513, a decrease of 238 as compared with the previous month. Of the total deaths
males contributed 271, females 242. Fifty-eight of the deaths were of children under five years of age, being 11·31 per cent.
of the whole number. Forty-four of these were under one year of age.
The rates per 1,000 of mean population in September, 1922 and 1923, were as follows:
