Cancellation of Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, prohibiting the Sale in the Borough of New Plymouth of certain Goods comprised in the Trade of a Tobacconist.
WHEREAS a petition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the tobacconists' shops within the Borough of New Plymouth, has been forwarded to me, desiring that the notice prohibiting the sale of certain goods in the trade of a tobacconist under the Shops and Offices Act dated the 12th day of June, 1922, and contained in the New Zealand Gazette of the 15th June, 1922, be cancelled:
And whereas I, George James Anderson, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the signatures to such petition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the said shops in the said district:
Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 33 of the said Act, I do hereby direct that the notice gazetted on the 15th June, 1922, prohibiting the sale in the Borough of New Plymouth of certain goods comprised in the trade of a tobacconist shall be and is hereby cancelled as from the date of the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette.

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, fixing the Closing-hours of Tobacconists' Shops in the City of Auckland.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the tobacconists' shops in the City of Auckland, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the city be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: Three days per week at 7 p.m., one day per week at 9 p.m., one day per week at 10 p.m.; (1) on the working-days other than those observed as a statutory closing-day in the period from 15th December to 10th January of the following year, both days inclusive, the closing-hours shall be at the option of the occupier; (2) on the working-days immediately preceding any of the special days mentioned in section 26 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, the closing-hour shall be 10 p.m.:
And whereas I, George James Anderson, Minister of Labour, am satisfied that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the tobacconists' shops within the City of Auckland:
Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 32 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, I do hereby direct that on and after the 1st day of February, 1923, all the tobacconists'

shops within the City of Auckland shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: On three days of the week at 7 p.m., one day of the week at 9 p.m., and one day of the week at 10 p.m., with the following exceptions-(1) on the working-days other than those observed as the statutory closing-day in the period from 15th December to 10th January of the following year, both days inclusive, there shall be no fixed closing-hour; (2) on the working-day immediately preceding any of the special days mentioned in section 26 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, the closing-hour shall be 10 p.m.
The notice published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 15th July, 1920, fixing the closing-hours of (1) hairdressers' and (2) tobacconists' shops in the City of Auckland is hereby superseded, in so far as it relates to the shops affected by this notice, as from the date of the coming into operation of this notice.

Notice under the Shops and Offices Act, 1921-22, fixing the Closing-hours of Chemists' Shops in the City of Dunedin.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the chemists' shops in the City of Dunedin, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the city, save and except that shop known as the Associated Chemists (Limited) established at 145 High Street in the City of Dunedin for the purpose only of the sale of medicine and surgical appliances that are urgently needed, be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 6 p.m., and on Fridays at 9.30 p.m., with the following exceptions-(1) should the working-day that first precedes Christmas Eve and should the working-day that first precedes New Year's Eve fall on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday, then and in such case the closing-hour on such working-days shall be 9.30 p.m.; (2) on the working-day that first precedes Christmas Day, and on the working-day that first precedes New Year's Day the closing-hour shall be 11 p.m., subject, however, to the closing at 1 p.m. for the statutory half-holiday on Saturday or on some other day during the week pursuant to section 26 of the Act; (3) on the working-day that first precedes Good Friday the closing hour shall be 9.30 p.m.:
