Court of Arbitration in accordance with section 3 (2) of the
Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Amendment Act,
1921, during the absence of the nominated member and the
acting nominated member appointed to the said Court on
the recommendation of industrial unions of employers, the
appointment to date from the 29th instant.

Appointment of Judges to constitute Election Court for the Trial
of an Election Petition.

In the Supreme Court of New Zealand.—In the matter of
the Legislature Act, 1908, and the Acts amending the
same.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Legislature
Act, 1908, and the Acts amending the same, I, Robert
Stout, P.C., K.C.M.G., Chief Justice of New Zealand, do
hereby nominate

The Right Honourable Sir ROBERT STOUT and
The Honourable ALEXANDER SAMUEL ADAMS,
two of the Judges of the Supreme Court of New Zealand, to
constitute the Election Court before whom shall take place
the trial of the election petition following:

The petition of Ernest Page Lee, of Oamaru, Solicitor,
against the return of John Andrew MacPherson as a member
of Parliament for the Electoral District of Oamaru, praying
for a recount and scrutiny by the Court of the votes tendered
and given at the election, and that it may be determined that
the said John Andrew MacPherson was not duly elected or
returned, and that his election and return are null and void,
and that the said Ernest Page Lee was duly elected and ought
to have been returned.

Appointment of Judges to constitute Election Court for the Trial
of Election Petitions.

In the Supreme Court of New Zealand.—In the matter of
the Legislature Act, 1908, and the Acts amending the
same.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Legislature
Act, 1908, and the Acts amending the same, I, Robert
Stout, P.C., K.C.M.G., Chief Justice of New Zealand, do
hereby nominate

The Honourable JOHN HENRY HOSKING and
The Honourable THOMAS WALTER STRINGER,
two of the Judges of the Supreme Court of New Zealand, to
constitute the Election Court before whom shall take place
the trial of the election petitions following, that is to say:—

(1.) The petition of John Pool, of Mount Albert, Tailor,
against the return of Christopher James Parr as a member of
Parliament for the Electoral District of Eden, praying that
it may be determined that the said Christopher James Parr
was not duly elected or returned and that the election was
void.

(2.) The petition of William Thomas Jennings, of New
Plymouth, Journalist, against the return of John Christopher
Rolleston as a member of Parliament for the Electoral District
of Waitomo, praying for a scrutiny and recount by the Court
of the votes at the election, and that it may be determined
that the said John Christopher Rolleston was not duly elected
or returned and that the election be declared void.

(3.) The petition of Kanapu Haerepuka, of Wanganui,
Aboriginal Native, against the return of Maui Ngatata Pomare
as a member of Parliament for the Western Maori Electoral
District, praying that it may be determined that the said
Maui Ngatata Pomare was not duly elected or returned and
that the election be declared void.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the
Council of the County of Wairoa, is published in
accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies' Loans
Act, 1913.

WAIRQA COUNTY COUNCIL.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies' Loans Act,
1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers
of the Waiatai Special Rating District taken on the 19th day
of December, 1922, on the proposal of the Wairoa County
Council to borrow the sum of £2,000 for metalling Waiatai
Road, the number of votes recorded was as follows: For the
proposal, 17; against the proposal, 6.

I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.
