Situated about two miles from Lake Taupo and three miles
from the Town of Tokaanu, and adjoining the bridge over the
Tongariro River on the Waimarino-Taupo Road.
An opportunity is here offered to fishermen to obtain an
allotment suitable for a camping-place adjacent to this well-
known fishing-ground.

Opening Lands in the North Auckland Land District for Sale
or Selection.

JELLICOE, Governor-General.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, John
Rushworth, Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the
Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of
the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided by section
one hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby
declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto
shall be open for sale or selection on Monday, the first
day of October, one thousand nine hundred and twenty-
three; and also that the lands mentioned in the said
Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be pur-
chased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of
purchase, or on renewable lease ; and I do hereby also fix
the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or
leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do
declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased
under and subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1908.

Section 184._Altitude, 100 ft. to 800 ft. above sea-level.
Mostly rough hilly country, a portion being easily ploughable
slopes. The whole area is in fern and short tea-tree. The
section is well watered. The access is from Pokeno, distant
about ten miles by formed and metalled road.

Section 185._Consists of easy undulating slopes of very
fair quality, and nearly all ploughable. The area is covered
in fern and tea-tree. It is only fairly well watered. The
access is from Pokeno, distant about ten miles by formed
and metalled road.

Section 186._Consists of about 200 acres of poor hilly
country, the balance being easy ploughable slopes, all in fern
and low tea-tree. The section is well watered. The access
is from Pokeno, distant about ten miles by formed and metalled
road.

Section 187._Altitude, 100 ft. to 300 ft. above sea-level.
This section is of very mixed quality, the northern portion
being poor, while the eastern and southern ends of the block
consist of very fair easy slopes, all ploughable, and with
treatment could be well grassed and capable of carrying a
fair number of stock. The section is well watered. Access
is from Pokeno, distant about ten miles by formed and
metalled road.

Section 188._Altitude, 100 ft. to 300 ft. above sea-level.
The section consists of about 25 acres good swamp, the balance
being slopes of fair quality. Water will have to be obtained
by boring. The access is from Pokeno, distant about ten
miles by formed and metalled road.

Section 189._Consists of very fair land. It is all very
easy undulating to flat, and 100 acres is of very fair soil on
clay subsoil. The section has no running water, but by boring
about 100 ft. an ample supply should be obtained. The
access is from Pokeno, which is about ten miles by formed
and metalled road.

Section 190._About 240 acres of easy undulating slopes,
balance good swamp land. The slopes are of very fair quality
and will break up well. The section is fairly watered, but
boring may be necessary. Access is from Pokeno by formed
and metalled road, about ten miles distant.

Section 191._Altitude, 50 ft. to 150 ft. above sea-level.
Consists of 70 acres of good easy slopes, the balance being
rich swamp land. The dry land is all of very good quality,
showing a good dark soil, while the swamp, although very
wet, carries a good deal of raupo and flax. When this swamp
is drained, it will be very good. The section is well watered.
Access is same as Section 190.

Appointing a Returning Officer for and fixing the Date of the
First Election of Members of the Waikato - West Coast Railway
District.

JELLICOE, Governor-General.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on me
by the Local Railways Act, 1914, I, John Rushworth,
Viscount Jellicoe, Governor-General of the Dominion of New
Zealand, do hereby appoint Robert Nelson, Esquire, of
Hamilton, Accountant, to be the Returning Officer for the
first election of members of the Waikato - West Coast Railway
District, and to be the Clerk of the Board of the said district
for the purpose of presiding at the first meeting thereof;
and I do hereby determine that the Waikato - West Coast
Railway Board shall consist of nine members ; and I do also
fix the fourth day of October, one thousand nine hundred
and twenty-three, as the date on which the first election of
the members of the said Board shall be held ; and I do hereby
authorize and appoint the Returning Officer to make out a
list of the electors for the purpose of the said election from
the valuation roll which has been compiled for the said
district by the Valuer-General ; and I do hereby direct
that such list, after it has been opened to public inspection
at such place or places in or convenient to the said district
or in the Borough cf Hamilton as the Returning Officer shall
determine, for a period of fourteen days prior to the said
first election, and such alterations or amendment as may be
necessary made thereto by the Returning Officer, shall be
the electors roll of the said district for the purpose of the
said election ; and I do hereby further determine that sections
seven to twelve inclusive of the Local Railways Act, 1914,
shall not apply.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-
General, this 4th day of August, 1923.
